His is an 01. 5 ETH/DEE. We put in some Mach 1s (65hp). He already had an EZ.

My truck with DD2s? Smoked a little, but it was controllable.

In short, a Mach 1. 5 at 85hp will feel as strong (in some cases stronger) than a DD3 at 100+hp, while delivering WAY less smoke and EGT and better mpg.

Just be aware that in an ETH, our Stage 2's will make 90+rwhp (not the 75 they make in an ETC truck). Also, the Stage 3's will make 115+ in an ETH, vs. 100 in the ETC.

Put it on a dyno - don't rely on the butt-o-meter.

Another great thing about the RV275's is that you can usually resell them for close to what you bought them for.

I am getting very close to finally upgrading to some 1. 6 EDMs, but I have really enjoyed the RV275's for driving and towing. I can rarely get my egts past 1200°, and that is typically towing heavy in northern california hills.

My stock clutch started slipping after adding the VA box. But once you upgrade the clutch, you have a rock solid setup.

I also went with the smaller injector at first because I wasn't ready to do anything to the turbo at that time. Anything more then the 275s with a box and you really have to start watching your egts all the time.

Pehaps. NO doubt that a honed larger injector can make the dyno numbers.

But what's more important is AREA UNDER THE CURVE. Compare a honed 100hp stick to an EDM (F1s are my favorite, but Jammers will show the same phenomenon).

The Mach 1. 5s at 85hp will have a great area-under-the-curve compared to a 90HP DD2 like mine. The difference is burn quality, spray angle, etc.

Dynos are useful tools, but simply quoted peak numbers of A vs B don't quite tell the whole story, do they?

Not UNhappy with my DD2s,

My F1 Mach 1. 6's just arrived today! Oo. Oo. When I get it on the dyno late next month I will post the #'s. :-laf

Sixpack, with the EZ and those injectors, you should be close to pushing the limits of that clutch.

I can't wait to get my injectors. But until then, I will wait to see your dyno numbers.

As for the original post, with an EZ, and your exhaust, I would think the 275s or mach 1's would be the most you could use and keep EGTs in check even when towing. Although I wouldn't hold my breath with the stock clutch.

Yep!

Many members here tow with comparable and larger sticks without EGT

issues. Of coarse some do have larger turbos.

My stock clutch held for about 15 minutes after I added the 275's to the EZ. And this was with 4k on the clock! :-laf

Yeah, but without a bigger turbo, and with bigger injectors, their EGT will get higher. My main point of this was at this level of power, you almost don't have to worry about EGTs cause they are almost always 'in check'.

And some of those members have a comp box that allows them to turn the power down if they have an EGT issue. I just upgraded to a Comp, and in a few more thousand miles I will be beyond my warranty, and I will tap the wire and have that additional control.

My little DD1 Jammers, Comp in the EZ mode, BHAF, 4" exhaust and DTT transmission have turned my little truck into a great towing machine. Taking the trailer down for service the other day, I was trying to see how high I could push the EGT's. Could not get it to 1200 degrees on hills pushing really hard in overdrive doing 60-70 MPH run ups. Combine weight over 18K. Truck drives like a big block gasser and is a real kick to drive around town, if you hammer it on an on ramp to the freeway, you better be ready to slow down to merg into traffic. Another thing is how smooth all this extra power is, when applied. When I was up on the pass snowmobiling and the weather was really bad a few weeks ago, I just pushed the Comp off and had no problems with winter drive-ability. SNOKING

Could you post that graph please?

You'll have to get it from Don. I don't think I'm in his "circle of trust" anymore:( (if I ever was)

Darn MLS.

1.5's

Just dyno'ed with my new 1. 5's

340 HP and 680 Ft lbs torque

I really LIKE these injectors... Now if someone could just find the fix for this damn APPS

So if 275's and an EZ will slip the stock clutch, what clutch do you use? Who makes a good clutch for this, and higher, horsepower? Thanks.

Southbendclutch has what you need. If you are going to replace your clutch, get the bigger 13" setup though. I put in the OFE and it holds my power just fine, and gives me room to grow (up to 450 hp). But it also lets me slip it enough to back my 5th wheel trailer up inclines, etc.

Give SBC a call and they will get you setup.
