I'm considering putting a set of injectors in my 97, 12v, 3/4 ton. 4x4, auto. Daily driver plus tow 10k fifth wheel. I now have a #10 plate, 3K gsk, ATS exhaust manifold, 4" exhaust and upgraded Vb and TC, turbo is stock. I don't think I need the 370's, but I would like to know more about the Bosch 70hp injectors. Do they have the proper spray angle and do they compare in quality with BD or DD injectors? If I get the Bosch 70hp injectors will adding a 16cm housing to my turbo be enough to keep egt's down? My timing is also stock. Thanks in advance.

Jim

I would say the 70 should be nice for you but I wouldn't go 16 on housing it would be hard to spool the turbo 14 should be great for you look at my sig and the turbo shops told me that with mine to only go 14 because of drivability on the street and towing

if you go with a 14 housing it will have to be wastegated. a 14 with no wastegate would be well past the turbo's effiency range and probably past the safe mark of the head gasket. A nw16 might be too much also, not sure.

ive got a #10 with a 60/14cm wastegated turbo. Have not pulled the 9k boat yet. But do pull long high speed 5th gear hills. 80+mph

egts at1200/1300 Took full throttle to see the1300.

My boost is at 40psi was@45 with the tst elbow. Still 40psi with the allen screw backed out. Stock elbow in now. Time for some wastegate adjusting

I was told the bosch 300hp injectors would be very good with my setup. An extra 50+ Hp and could still tow. Would put me around 400/420 rwhp

I just read this morning on the ram forum the the bosch 300 from industrial injection

they change the pop pressure for smaller fuel droplets. Better burn I guess.

And Piers told me that the 300s would have high egts and hurt mpg.

But I have the 215 pump

are the 300s marine?

i had a set of 370's for a while on my 97. DDP had a sale so i jumped on a set of 4's. the idle was WAY cleaner for me. i didnt have much of an increase in HP but my temps went down and mileage went up. truck seemed to run smoother too. the DDP injectors were alot better matched to my truck than the marine injectors. if 100 bucks is the difference id go with the more efficient injector. i have no experience with any other injectors.

The Bosch 70hp are advertised as a "Dodge Cummings" injectors. Are the Bosch 70hp marine and are they same as the 300's?

To whom it may concern,

I was told by an injector shop that the 300s are from industrial motors. And Bosch makes the most reliable injectors. He also noted that if a honed injector was not done right, The tips can mess up in the future. But I would still put a set of DDs in my truck in a heartbeat, if I could take on any more fuel

Just saw city diesel has the 300s for 275. 00

Just did a test run 90mph up a long steep hill. 1300egt 40psi boost. No smoke. At them temps, dont think I can safely take on any more fuel for towing.

Adjusted the wastegate rod out one turn. Still@40 psi Hmmm... .

Is the timing stock? If you go to about 16-16. 25*, you'll drop the EGTs maybe 100-150*, and lower peak boost about 7-10#.

When I still had stock timing, I was hitting 45psi ('gate was set at 38#, IIRC). Bumped timing to 16. 2* and dropped to 38#.

I suspect that since you have plenty of fuel, I think it is because you only have a single wastegate. Dual 'gates would 'gate all 6 cylinders, instead of just 3. Still enough pressure to exceed the 'gates capability.

My timing is still stock. Dont know of any good diesel shops in So Calif

Had mixed feelings on timing. From what ive read, Better upper end HP, But lose some bottom end. I need low end for towing, and have a gearvenders OD.

Advancing the timing puts more stress on the head gasket?
