I know this has probably been discussed before, but with the search not working i'm gonna have to ask it again.

My tax return money is gonna be well spent on injectors and a clutch. So far all i've done to my ETH is gauges, straight pipe it and put on a Diesel Dynamics TTPM. I frequently tow about 10,000 pounds and want to know whats the biggest injectors I can safely run without EGT's being a problem. Thanks

My two cents worth: I would say that since you tow fairly frequently, DD stage 2's would likely be the best bet. Especially if you plan to keep your stock turbo. I have DD 3's and an HX40, and I used to have the DD TTPM, now I have a hot Edge Comp box instead of the TTPM. I also don't tow anything.

If you were to also go with a bigger turbo, at least an HX40 or KwiKurt's B1 bomber turbo, DD3's would probably be safe when towing with a TTPM.

Id get dd2's,I have the 3's,and my EGT's climb when towin,g Dad has the 2's,his EGT's stay much lower, and since your towing, the 2's are the ticket. .

I say go with 2s, that's what I did on my ETH and I love 'em. I have no plans/desire to go with DD3s. I wanted to keep EGTs in check and smoke under control in hot weather. I also wanted more controlability on ice/snow (but I think the DD3s are just as drivable at part throttle as RVs or Stage 1 or 2). Another thing is the 2s probably give you the best mileage, although I've seen guys running the 3s get excellent mileage too.

Are you guys saying that DD3's give higher EGT's than DD2's at the same power output while pulling a grade?

Or is it because 3's have more power available to get carried away with, and raise the temps?

If its the 2nd one, Id rather have the power & just use what you need.

If I remember right...

DD2's spray pattern somehow gives the lowest EGT. I do not quite understand that (same number of holes and all) but maybe Keith Locklear will chime in here (or someone else in the know).

Shortshift,IMO,yes the dd2's will have lower EGT's than the dd3's,in the same situation, using the same power/boost. We had the dd3's in dad's truck, then dropped back to dd2';s,for a number of reasons. For towing heavy, the 2's are what you want.

I guess it never stops. Boy you got that right, ever time you think your all set something else comes along that you just have to get, at least that what my wife tells me. :D :D

Which Injectors

Guys,

When you say DDII do you mean Diesel Dynamics Stage 2 with the boost module? Where is the best place to get these or the DDII if different?

Thanks

Peter

I am upgrading to DD2's only on my truck as well because I do tow over the Rockies (only a small 6000 lbs) and want to keep EGT's in check.

PSL53, yes when they mention DD2's they are talking about Diesel Dynamics Stage 2 injectors. You do want a boost module of some sort to use the fullest potental of the injector and to keep from setting off an over boost code in the computer. If you have and EZ or VA they have a boost module built into them. As far as best price I would go directly to Diesel Dynamic, just make sure you mention that you are a TDR member to get your discount.
