I am thinking of searching for a new insurance company and was wondering on your guy's opinion on the matter. I currently have Allstate and overall they have been pretty good. The reason I am switching is I am coming off my parents after 10 years. I decided that I was paying more than I should because I was on all of their vehicles. There has been several post out there about the way some insurance companies treat you during your claim. Any help on the decision would be appreicaited. Thanks, Corey

We use American Family for all of our insurance needs. They are headquartered in Wisconsin, and we have always been treated well during a claim. They may not be the cheapest, but they have very good customer service.

I echo what DL5treez says about State Farm including all insurance except life though them, though NML does much better with with life and other things, for 30++ years in many different parts of the country, with one exception.

If you live where they have a Claims Center (typically metropolitian areas, so avoid metro areas :D ) you may find that the claims adjusters vary greatly in style, quality of inspection (occasionally necessitating additional work over items missed). but State Farm has always been great with additonal repairs on discovered items (well for me at least for me, and their agents have been great, again for me?). I have always liked the deal where a shop is already on their list of approved shops and you drop it off, they handle everything, you pick it up (after paying applicable deductible!) and you are on your way.

Of course State Farm did run into issues in the past (MN. ) with trying to force non-OEM parts, but an aggressive state attorney general etc. resolved :-laf that issue, and NO non-OEM parts problems anymore! :D

"... Be proactive with any claims, go over the estimates, and 99. 9% of the time it'll be smooth sailing... . " :D

Isn't that the way it should be on any issue, buying, selling, new and used, repairs, etc.

Wish it was back to a handshake type of world Oo. but guess that is in the past, though many parts of the country it is that way still :D

I just received a mailing from American International Companies (AIG) in the mail today. It's listed under DaimlerChrysler Insurance Agency, Inc. on the form. They stated that the average saved was $408. 82/year. I haven't called to test their claims of this much savings, but I'll try tomorrow.

I echo what others have said about State Farm - but the biggest advantage of SF is the rates you only see after you've been with them a few years.

I use Farm Bureau from my truck. I can get around the higher prices by listing myself as primary driver on my old truck (1980 F150) instead of the Dodge. Run liability only on the Ford and full coverage on the Dodge.
