Can't speak for the others, but I have been very happy with the HTT cooler. It has done a very good job o helping to keep my egt's in check while playing and while towing. :D

i had 4 bd intercoolers on my 06 and after a melted grill due to poor fit and all 4 with holes blow in them i now own 1 bd with a lot of dust on it in the corner of the garage and a city diesel that has worked great and is still on the truck. they have my vote for best intercooler but i have not tried other brands then the two i mentioned. my 98 will soon have a spearco intercooler on it. city diesel did not have any for my 98 or it would be coming from them.

Mike Lazar, also known as the Lazarsmith or XLR8TR on DTR did a test on the popular ones and found a less than 5% difference in the cooling from a stocker. He is a very smart dude that does a lot of testing and engineering of existing and one off parts. I was gonna get an after market intercooler and he talked me out it. Get a hold of him on DTR or call him. He is in Mckinney, Texas and can be found on google with lazArsmith, dodge, sssss, sectorshaft, as key words. Might just save you some monkey for a diff. toy

From all the info. I,ve gathered, if your stock IC has the welded on metal end caps, (not the clamped on plastic type) the best after-market ones are only slightly better.

IMO unless you are going to make big HP, I would put my $ in other stuff first.

I like the Spearco, Very nice piece. The stock coolers were always hot across after a good rip, the spearco's are cold to the touch 2/3 rds across. 3-4 more psi at the intake. Can't speak for the others thou... .

I am very satisfied with my BD intercooler. It helps with exhaust gas temperatures and the new ones from BD are coming with cast end tanks that are very strong, look similar to stock, and are not prone to leakage at the many welds that fabricated end tanks could develop.

I would respectfully disagree. But first, will say that if the truck is tested unloaded and not towing,I will agree. Other than the marginally faster spool-up of the turbo,i noticed nothing unloaded. It is when the truck is loaded and egt's spike going up grades or briskly accelerating where you will indeed notice the improvement... . as much as 250*. I could easily stay above 1400 before the new Spearco, but after installing,I cannot make the truck go over 1350*With conservative driving habits now,I can easily maintain the recommended 1200 to 1250* while negotiating any uphill obstacle... loaded!

Now,for $1200 ,one could argue is it worth it?I think it was, especially when many of us don't mind spending big bucks on making HP but being able to use it usually costs also. That is where an upgraded IC will categorize itself. I love mine and would do it again if I bought a newer truck in the future.

im looking at sled pulling mainly im hitting 1700 degrees but thats in about a 30 second pull. would you think it would help there? HTT told me that the turbo im running cant hit its max air flow with the stock intercooler because it does not have enough air flow, but of course there trying to sell me theres.

Thanks for the info

I cannot and would not offer my opinion on something that I know nothing about... . and sled pulling is one of them!!I can only suggest that you post this thread in the Competition Forum... . I read these types of posts there on several occasions and you will certainly find someone with the necessary knowledge to aid you in the right direction. But I will comment that my Spearco did in fact help with airflow. Forrest Nearing among others have helped me in the past with decisions such as these and I bet they 'chime in' on the Comp Forum... . try it and let us know what you decide.
