Another option is like I did; use the Detroit Locker in back and put the ARB in the front. That way if one system fails, the other is still operational. If you order an ARB for the front, make sure you order one with the correct spline number. Evidently Dana put a oddball number spline shafts in the Dodge diffs. At least in '95 like mine. Either system is good. They're both stout, heavy duty and well regarded in the hardcore offroad community. The ARB is prone to air leaks, a minor nuisance. The Detroit occasionally makes a loud bang ( the first time I thought my diff grenaded!).

Spend the bucks here and you won't be disappointed.

Just an opinion

Ive had an ARB (Dana 44) in the front of my Jeep and a Detroit locker in the rear since 1995, and have had no trouble with either, and Ive banged them hard in Utah, New Mexico and Colorado! Well, did have a problem with the air switch on the ARB once, but I ditched the ARB compressor and wiring and just hooked it up to my rollbar airtank. Also simplified wiring. Anyway, from my experience, they are both great units!

Dana 60 & 70 is - 4. 10 and up - or - 4. 56 and down. Don't know about the Dana 80, would be the same I would think

I beg to differ. I believe the detroit locker is stronger than a ARB. Don't get me wrong, I've wheeled with ARB's for over 3 years without any problems like Tom C.

I believe most "failures" are due to improper install of ARB. My FJ40 now has a spool in the rear and detroit in the front.

fj40charles -- are you running cruiser axles on the fj? if so where did you come up w/ a spool for it? I might have to upgrade from my LincolnLocker!

Jm,

I'm got a spool in a Dana 60 axle. I heard rumors that a vendor was making a spool for the LC axles. I guess an ARB would come close to being a spool, but it is rather pricey.

Anyone know about locker for the '03 American 9. 25" front diff. ? I am about to order first diesel & am concerned about heavy front end, think I want selectable locker to help keep the front from staying buried.

I put Powertrax no-slip in '84 Land Cruiser & so far have been very pleased w/ it, on & off road. It only seems to bind up on pavement when I have to back up tight out of parking space, otherwise I don't notice it until I use it in the mud & then it works great. Time will tell as to how stout it is.

Anybody have any updates on the OxLocker for the dana 60 front? I am interested in using this up front with just the limited slip out back, as it is manually selectable and most of my 4x4 use is in the snow (there have been occasions, however, when I really could've used a locked front diff). I am mainly concerned with it's overal strength, I don't need something that will fail and leave me with only one drive axle...

Why not get an ARB. If you want something reliable I don't see a cable operated locker being it. And if you don't use it very often I think it will be even worse. What I am saying is that cable will be all frooze up and won't work just like about anything cable operated under a vehicle does at some poin and time.

Mopar_Mudder, I would think the only problem with the ARB is cost since it is about $650 for the locker and then another $200 or so for the compressor so it tends to be a little expensive for lots of people. I love mine as I have them in both axles on my Jeep and could not live without them.

I don't know how much the OX lockers are, but I know how much it would be worth to me the first time it let me down  I try to think of the big picture and what is going to be best in the long run.
