In "mobile-speak", Delvac means Diesel. It's just what they call their diesel oils. Mobile 1 Delvac 5w-40 is the synthetic diesel oil. It's also repackaged as Truck and SUV oil, not sure if there's varying weights of that stuff or not. Delvac 1300 is their dino diesel oil. I'm not sure where they put the "1" when referring to Mobile 1 Delvac or Mobile Delvac 1, but anything that says Delvac is a diesel oil. Anything that says "1" is synthetic. However, even if it doesn't say Delvac, it may still be a diesel oil, not necessarily synthetic.

I started out trying to help, really I did, but it's just more fun to add to the confusion. :-laf :D

I've gone thru a lot of Mobile 1 Delvac 5w-40 in my 2 CTD's without a problem. I just found a local supplier for Amsoil that will sell their 15w-40 for about $8/gal less than I was paying for Mobile. Also I wasn't all that impressed with Mobile once temps dropped below 0*F. Changed the filter outside once at about 5*F and the oil inside the filter was thick.

Just went to the freezer and grabbed the bottle of Amsoil 15w-40 that's been in there for about 2 weeks. Kinda like syrup. Might be the end of me buying that stuff too. -45*F my a**. Freezer was checked just before oil went in there and it's about -5*F.

A few winters ago my truck was subjected to -20 weather situation, and truck was parked for 3 days in that temperature. When I started it, the oil pressure came up within 8 seconds as I was looking at my watch. I was using the Amsoil (AME) 15W-40 engine oil. This got my attention, as I was very impressed. :)

I'm suprised that not to many are running Delvac 1300. Get 4 gallons for $20. 00 at the farm and fleet. Its the cheapest stuff I found and works pretty good according to my last oil analysis.

I've used each of the top three-DELO, ROTELLA, and AMSOIL. All good, though the amsoil 5-30 I just switched to seems to not be as stinky when i stop at a traffic light like the other two were.
