Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15w-40 here! Wal-Mart's price is $5. 88 per gallon. Good price and no stink as far as I can tell. I change every 4000 miles and use Stratapore filters from Geno's.

Rotella from Wal-Mart and Fleetgard filters from Cummins dealer.



On 3000 miles change intervals too. Wouldn't want that drainplug to seize in the pan from not taking it out often enough.

If this were the Ford or VW site, Mobil Devac 1 would be on the first line. Why doesn't anyone with CTDs use one of the most proven and few fully synthetics on the market? Most of your list is either dino or just severely hydrotreated group IV base stock.



I use Delvac 1 in everything gas and diesel year round. I work for an oil company (upstream) and used to do lube blend design for a small lube manufacturer and was chief technical resource for regional destributor of two other large competitors to Mobil/Exxon. I drive the only PSD in our fleet, and change at 10k with a Baldwin bypass filter, towing heavy most of the time.

I changed oil and filter at 1250 miles using Rotella T 15w40 and Fleetguard Stratapore filter. I will continue to use Rotella T 15W40 and Fleetguard/Mopar filters and use a change interval of 3750 miles. My truck is a daily driver and does limited light hauling of less than 1K lbs. It is alway parked in a heated garage year round and when driven it is ususally for at least a 20 mile distance in the 50-70 mph range. If I lived in the extreme temp areas of the USA or my truck set outside in "0" degree weather I would consider synthetic oil.

Boy, am I confused. I read one of illflem's posts about the vacuum cleaner hose inserted into the oil filler tube so you could change the drain plug without loosing the oil. It took three tries before I turned the vacuum on, but then it did work. Oo.



Since then, I have been changing my drain plug every 4000 miles, without loosing a drop of oil. Are you supposed to change the oil also?



If we are to change the oil, I need more info from rfrazier on the "Homer's Duck Butter".



I do not like the snake oil products , so mean while I will continue to use the Delo , but I am willing to consider the duck oil.

Wayne, sorry I forgot to mention turning on the vac in my instructions. If you want to drain your oil faster put the vac on blow.

I use Homer's oil dye. It comes in six colors, one for each oil sump - trans, engine, differentials, etc. Makes it child's play to tell which oil level to check by the color of the puddle on the garage floor.

You might have something here that the Ford and Chevy guys might really want to buy. Think how much time this will save them??? You will need to expand the color chart that comes with the directions. letting them know for example what 2 systems might be leaking when 2 colors run together on the ground to form a new color. Example, I'm a Phord power puke owner and I have yellow dye in my engine and blue dye in my transmission. I come out of my trailer and find a puddle of green liquid under my truck. The chart would tell them that when your yellow engine oil leaks and mixes with your leaky blue transmission fluid it makes a green colored liquid. illflem I think you are going to become a hero to all Ford and Chevy owners
