..which Phat Shaft turbo

I've have an 03 HO 4x4 3. 73 with a Gear Vendors ,Bullydog pup on #2... . (#3 increases rail pressure so I didn't want to do that) I don't pull a lot of loads tho I do have a 28 ft enclosed car trailer so it's mostly a parts runner with some freeway driving and looking for better mileage with reserve power... so watcha think ... a Phat Shaft 6270 =12-13. 4 cm or the 6280 = 14-15. 1 cm turbo... I'm sure the super phat is too much for me so it's down to these two... With the GV on I don't have alot of RPM's at freeway speeds 75mph=1600rpm... hows the spooling on the 6280 . . the 6270 moves the band lower over the 6280... ..... also going to the 2 piece ats man. as well... . thanks all... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

62/12 or 14, With the low Rpms the GV can operate will create High EGTs for the 64 or 66.

The 6280 is a better choice here... don't discount the SPS62. We have installed a ton of these on similiar trucks with great results! If I can answer any questions please let me know.

I've gone from a stock turbo to a SPS66 to a SPS62 to a stock turbo and back to a SPS62.



The 62 spools way faster than the 66, but is still slow spooling compared to the stocker.



If ultimate horsepower is your gig, then go for the SPS62 (aka 6280 super). If you're happy with the power level, I'd suggest the 6270 (62/12).



Where the slow spooling really shows up is on a dyno. The 66 took forever and a day to get from 0-12psi, I mean forever. Once you hit 12psi it would rip to 55-60psi. I dynoed at 555/960 with the BDDL on tow and TST standard at 7x7.



With the SPS62 there's still a fair amount of lag until 10psi, where the turbo spools and boost builds quickly to 48-50psi on my truck. The lag is not that bad, I can live with it, especially running a downloader.



The stock turbo lights instantly. I would imagine the 62/12 will be very similar. Todd (T&C) tried really hard to talk me into a 62/12 (which is what's on his truck), but I wanted something that would still make big numbers.



Last week I dynoed at 479/941 with just a Smarty on 9, EZ on 1, and the SPS62.
