The Liberal News Media Stinks!

i'm tired of dial-up modem. what are my options?

Picking up a new Bushmaster Super V-Match with flat top Weaver rail (Picatinney type) and am wondering what scope and rings should I go with.

I have a nice Springfield Armory 6X40 with . 308 compensator and like that style. There is a SA 4-14X40 with . 223 compensator which is nice. Or are the BSA and Simmons scopes with the Mil-Dot OK?

Can't Afford a nice Leupold Mil-Dot or any of the other high-end scopes ($450+) at this time.

Also the other big question is which rings to get? The low or mid profile? I would figure the Mid profile just to make sure the front of the scope does not hit the handguard.

Anyone else have one of these AR15 type with a scope?

Mine

Has the titanium firing pin and match trigger, with match barrel. It has a Millett 4. 5-16 scope, and I highly recommend that scope. I also have a very low opinion of Simmons scopes. Not very rugged, and Chinese made. I am reasonably sure that Millett makes the SA scopes, as well. My rings and base are Leupold. Have fun! These things are sooooooo cheap to shoot and so accurate. I will, never the less continue to reload and test my steadiness and the gun's accuracy. What a fine weapon !

Ol Ron,

How come you bought a base? Isn't your AR a flattop?

The flattop configuration with the Weaver rail (Picatinney type) shouldn't require a new rail, just the rings ... right?

Anyway, are your rings high or medium hight rings? I see that

Millett makes a AR15 Flat top Extra-high set of rings, but only in 1" size, not 30mm size ... guess thats way you went with Leupold rings.

FATCAT,

I like the SA scopes too, really good value for the money.

That said, I have an Olympic Arms Ultramatch rifle that I have had for about 10 years, it is a flat-top with Williams set trigger, stainless fluted ultramatch barrel, vortex flash suppressor (amazingly effective!), and other assorted goodies. By far the most accurate rifle I have ever owned, and so easy to shoot.

My rifle has a cheezy looking Tasco 6-24X varmint scope on it, the old version that had the eyepiece bell with the rangefinder "window" in it that let you estimate range based on the relative size of a varmint in the scope by bracketing him with the reticles. The ranging works better than you might think, but I don't get to shoot much except at the range so not very worthwhile overall. When I bought it I went to a gunshow and they had a guy who sold 10,000 different types of scopes. I was able to look through them all out the front door and picked the one that gave the best image for less than $400. REALLY wanted a Leupold but $$$$$$. The old Tasco has held up very well.

I dont own one, but I've heard good things about these.

I have a Simmons (POS!!) and three rifles with Leupolds. Love the Leupolds!!!:D

Try to find a used Leupold, Nightforce (good luck), Burris, Redfield or Baush & lomb 3200 or 4200 series.

My next scope will be either a B&L 4200 or a Leupold on my M1A.

I have no experience with the Springfield armory scopes.

There are many european made scopes that are excellent, but you may not want to buy them, and theyre very pricey.

My Bushy A3 V-match for open sites runs the Original Bushnell Halo laser with the 1 moa dot. Groups are less than 1" @ 100 meters. The trigger is Diamond competition.

Scope is A. C. O. G NSN.

Both optic devices hold zero on and off the Picatinney and no rings required due to mount design.

Both optic devices are outstanding in the dark.

Armalite A2 is factory.

I shoot all 69 grain (Lake City) and both stabilize very well with 1 in 9 twist:cool:

Ive got a RRA scope mount. It was about $50. Armalite makes a similar mount that is better and will hold zero better. But I dont think I can shoot good enough to justify the little better mount. Both mount on like the A3 handel/sight. The AR has a extra lug that sticks into the notches in the rail to center it.

As far as a scope. I have a Bushnell banner 3-9x40. It works good, but ive only had it for a month and had enough time to beat the crap out of it yet. It was only $80 and good enough for me and my bushy.

Although pricey, our weapons are all adorned with Zeiss scopes. They handle recoil very well in the 375 H&H and larger calibers. I would use nothing less.

Ziess & Nightforce are two of the best scopes period. Once you shott with either you'll not want anything less,LOL. My preference for any of my benchrest equipment is Nightforce. The optics are unbelieveable and make 1000yd shoots alot more enjoyable.

If cost efficent is what you want Weaver,Redfeild,Burris,B&L or Tasco are good choices. Tasco is one of the most underrated scopes out now and have been that way ever since they were bought out by Minolta. I shoot them and Leupold on my hunting equipment. Its a matter of personal choice and flavor. Look around a little and you may find a higher end used scope for sale at a good price. I have a few I'd sell but they are not variables, all three are fixed powers(10x,24x and 36x). try looking at places like Benchrest.com for some... ... ... ... Andy
