Shock installation

Just got done installing Bilsteins shocks. It was more involved than I realized. It wasn't hard as much as it was differcult, the brackets are in all semi unacessable places, with the spare in the way, the muffler the front lower brakets are pretty hidden and the worst was the top driver size. It took 4 hrs I thought maybe 1, the good news is the ride is about 100% better, so I guess I'll stop *****ing and moaning. It also would have been nice to get some instructions, the rear was pretty straight forward , but the front, I wasn't sure if I was to use the old gromets. I didn't just used the piece provided by the kit, it was kind of a one piece gromet with a metal sleave that tighens with the upper retaining washer. I hope this is what you are supposed to do.

Another install tip... .

For the front driver's side shock, after you take the retaining strap off the shock to get the nut and grommet off, compress the shock and use the strap (or something else) to keep it compressed. The shortened length will be much easier to manuever. Drop the shock back in place and put the bottom bolt in. Put the shock tower back in place and tighten it down. From the wheel well you'll be able to see the bottom of the grommet to guide the shock through when you cut the strap.

If I had tried this first when I helped my buddy put his shocks on, it would have saved quite a bit of time. :D
