what, in yalls opinion, would be a good alfa OBD reader/program to acquire for someone who is reasonably
adept at computer usage, read, I can push buttons with the best but have old school mechanical abilities. I am an antique tractor puller but have a new school truck to get me there!
what say guys?

The best setup would be an Android tablet with a Bluetooth dongle. If you get the MX+ dongle, that allows you better connections and a stand alone OBD reader for the rest of your fleet. The great thing about AlfaOBD is that you can go through the app without being hooked up to the truck. Basically a dry run on what you can do. When you get the setup, first thing would be to save a CONFIG file of how your truck is setup (just in case of a problem). We're here for the questions and help when you need. Enjoy your day!

Edit: I have on my Android phone and also a Samsung tablet. The tablet makes it easier but always have my phone in case.

My expensive Autel scanner has both the cord and the wireless OBD II connector. I find me using the wireless all the time. Nice that it also came with the cord, but it's also nice being able to do controlled ABS bleeds without running all over the place with a short cable.

Go with the wireless Bluetooth dongle and AlfaOBD. You won't regret it.

Are you an android or a iPhone user?

AlfaOBD for Android and JScan for iPhone.

The VLinker MC+ is best bang for your buck on bluetooth OBDII readers right now. It does everything the OBDLink MX+ does, seems to be just as fast, and as realiable for less than 1/2 the cost.
