Ok, so for some unknown reason, when I ordered the Beast, I failed to get the trailer towing package. I guess because at the time I really wasn't thinking I'd be towing stuff. Of course, that went out the window pretty quick.

So, what's the best hitch to get? The Mopar one, or are there better one's out there ? I'm talking regular tow hitch, not a gooseneck.

No chance that they put the wiring harness on all the trucks, regardless of towing package, is there?

Thanks

Dave E. . I have learned the hard way to figure out what I need, then go one step farther. If you think you need a beer, buy two. Anyway, I have owned two hitches from www.torklift.com and have had no problems at all with them... under heavy loads. The superhitch works well while hauling the camper.

The Reese Titan also looks pretty stout.

You might try searching under the towing forum... lots of info there!

Dave,

My first truck didn't have a towing package either and my parts guy wisely told me to get the Mopar towing wiring harness. It goes from front to back and has the built in relay to run any lights you would need on a big trailer. If you don't get this harness or relay you run the risk of burning out your headlight switch. In fact DC had a TSB on this sometime back. I used the Mopar hitch too and it was a perfect bolt on.

I use the Reese Titan 2. 5" with a 42" extension under my Lance camper, pulling a 2 horse trailer. No problems, but you DO have to use an adapor sleeve to use 2" ball mounts when the extension tube is not used.

Make sure you review the specs on the hitch you buy. The Mopar hitch only has a 5000 rating without the spring bars. I removed the OE hitch and installed a hitch that has a 10K#/12K# w?bars.
