Like the Naked City, live on the road, I gotta million stories. . . this is just one of them. Ya gotta have some whiskers to know what I'm referring to.

Cheers,

Well the common stuff is ok, but the synthetic is worth the money for the main reason of lower temps. Even with amsoil I will not run 100k on the fluid. Does anybody know of an external spin on type filter that would bypass the internal??

I've even run over aluminum ladders, must have fallen of a work truck. Coulda hada skunk today, wasn't hungry.

$4000,00 for an overhaul of the dodge transmission. Can't you buy an Allison for that kind of money?

I use Chevron +3 atf in my 47re and Lucas trans additive. It costs 2. 38 per Quart. And Does a good job.

Good Luck

Don

I went looking for an ATF this weekend. Ended up with Valvoline Maxlife, it's a blend fluid and rated for +3 and +4 as well as a bunch of other stuff.

I think it counts. . . you're pretty quick, doubt I'd be quick witted enough to determine if Queen or King sized. Hope nobody was a using it at the time.

Cheers,

The last I have seen that Bill K suggested about transmission fluids was this: They use the Merc III at overhaul, as do the installers. If you use Merc III you "can" have shudder; however you will have firmer shifts. If you use the ATF+3 and drag or pull, you can slip. But whatever you do use, change it ever 12,000 miles. because the filter does not filter out the harmful fileings and stuff:rolleyes: So he said to just use the cheapest that conforms to the 7176 spec, but change often.

I just had my transmission done at DTT in April and Vinnie told me to use Dexron III / Mercon which will give you firmer shifts, He told me if I start getting shutter then change to ATF+3. Bill K. and Stephen also told me the same, along with changing the trans. fluid & filter & adjust the bands every 12,000 miles.
