Travel Trailers

Airstreams are super nice an if you can afford it would probably the way to go, but they start at around 25K an go up to 75K. I have owned three Fleetwood Prowlers with no major problems. A 74 year model, an two 2000 year models. The one 2000 model was a 24ft an we sold it to buy a 28ft model for more room. So here again wanting to increase trailer size the 28ft is for sale in excellent shape. I also have owned a 87 model Layton TT an it was a nice trailer. On any trailer preventative maintenance is the key if your looking to buy second hand. Look it over very close, especially if it's been just setting out in the weather an not protected with a awning.

I dont think Airstreams are built any better that the other top of the line trailers. One thing i know, If you buy one and it dosent have a nice slide out and your wife looks at her friends, your F___. Do it right the first time.

ive recentally been through a few new airstreams, they are very well built, and seem well organized, with a good amount of space, and everything flows together.

if you feel like driving to ohio, we have a new airstream only dealer in columbus, which also does body work and service, and parts sales www.caldwellairstream.com

Jayco's are ok. I have had my 32FS SS for 6 years. First thing to go was the drawer slides. Had to replace them all!! I have an aluminum roof because I heard about some problems with the rubber roof. Naturally, it leaked the 3rd year. The seam on the front and back, where the white aluminum joins the shinney top aluminum. I laid down a couple of coats of kool seal, then fiberglass tape then many coats of kool seal. Still looking good after 3 years.

So I would never say they are trouble free. I have a list of other things that have gone wrong, but I think you would have these problems with about any trailer.

Don't like the Silverstream's rouind roof. Lose lots of space in the cabinets and they are very pricey!! I think the Sunnybrook is very nice but priced above Jayco.

Good Luck!!

I looked at Airstreams for the first time a couple of months ago at an RV show. Their chassis and body seem to be well built but the interiors are made out of the same low end materials as any normal TT. I saw paper woodgrain or wallpapered luan paneling and crudely installed laminate counter tops. The fabrics were thin and window coverings were basic. For the same money or less I found trailers that were bigger and had high end materials like Corian and real hardwood cabinets.

I was a little disappointed.

Find a Carriage Cameo dealer in your area. Great quality, great durability and moderate pricing. I've had my fifth wheel for three years now and towed many trouble free miles.

We have a Nash 24A. We're really happy with it. It's our first TT, so we don't have a lot of experience, but I would not hesitate to recomend Nash, Arctic Fox or Desert Fox (all made by Northwood, in La Grand, OR).
