I know this is a very opinionated question, but I'm open to them all. I just installed an Edge Comp, pump wire not in yet waiting for pump cover, to go with my DD2's. In anticapation of high egts I thought I would ask this question. Money is not the issue, I'll wait and save to get the best turbo for my aplication if I need to. My concerns are lag:rolleyes:, downpipe modificatons if any, and EB compatability. I guess I could get a remote mount EB if I need to. I don't tow more than 5000lbs and I'm not all that interested in the best possible 1/4 mi times;) , just driveablity and lower egts. BTW I see 33" tires in my future. :D OK, let the suggestions fly.

TIA

well,,,,,, on my 02 eth-dee w/ dd2s and loose wire comp that tows all the time egt was too high. i tried the pdr 35/16 as i have a pac-brake. i believe the 16 hsing is a mistake [w/ hx35 on 24v] as egt has climbed. shoots to 1400 real quick b4 i can back off and at cruise of 65 mph w/ light load [13,500 to 14,000 gcw] 1050 on the pyro. warmer than w/ stock turbo w/ 12 cm hsing. even empty while accelerating egt shoots up fast. towing at hi altitude up hill temps on hot days are amazingly awful. i cant even shift out of 6th and expect relief. i shift down and giver some pedal and temps shoot back up. no way can i hook up the wire. i have to putt up hills slowly.

so,,,,, i am selling the pac and piers is shipping me a pdr 40/16. shld be here in a couple days. it comes w/ the 4 in down pipe. a friend [and fellow nwbomber/tdr member] has the pdr 40 on his eth and tows and is happy. spoolup is good on the 40 w/ piers mods. [on his rig]

im hoping this will be the answer to my hi egt prob while towing

The person muddymess is talking about is me. I unlike most am somewhat unhappy with my eth. It does a lot better now that I have spent a ton of money to keep things cool. I have a PDR HX-40 on it now and I can tow light (5-6k) without much of a problem. When I get up into the 10k+ range I either have to try and pull the hills at high speed (70+) or down shift to keep the temps down. I could probably get another 100-150* drop if I were to go to the B1 but it would be at the cost of spool up. I have heard they spool about like a stock HX-40. As a side note, I had a stock HX-40 on my truck for one trip and then took it off due to the slow spool time/lag (about 17-1800rpms in my truck). My PDR 40 spools at 1400-1450rpms.

I noticed you are still running the stock clutch with dd2's and a comp. I will tell you that my clutch lasted 26k with 275's and a TST PM3. I would definately look into a clutch so you can use the power you have. If your egt's are too terribly bad now I would do the clutch first then save for a turbo.

Just my opinion and experiences

Thanks guys. I don't have a stock clutch. I have a kevlar faced Star clutch. So far it has worked very well, no chatter when leaving from a stop or in traffic. I havn't tried it towing yet. BTW right now without the pump wire attached egts are good 1200-1250 degs.
