Which turbo would you suggest for a single charger application on an 03 Ho with pmcr, fass, afe intake,4 inch exhaust. And has anyone tried the Snow performance water injection? How does it work? what chances of blowing something up do i have.

If you go to twins and a TST box you can get over 500 RWHP with stock injectors and 48RE tranni. You will need bigger injectors to go higher and from what I have seen it seems the rail on the common rail runs dry at about 580 RWHP. The watter injection still is being worked out on the 2nd gens I would forget about it for awhile on the 3rd gens.

Save your money for twins they are the only way to go! Don't believe me just go to one diesel drag you will see the light. . :D :D :D

I installed a Killer B2 a couple weeks ago and it has cooled things down quite a bit. I think I could get into the 400's with safe temps now and probably max in the mid to high 400's. The install was not easy but the turbo is working well and my mods are very similar to yours. As Tom said, twins are the way to go over 500 hp and I think this charger would be a great top charger in a twin setup ;)

But are they user friendly

I have heard that twins work great, but are they able to be on a daily driver truck without any complications. I mean i do have to tow with this set up, carry passengers and play so it's versatility is very important. Also how reliable is the engine at this pointhttps://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=1031976#

https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=1031976#? I would love to go to twins but i am just a little worried.

A properly built set of twins with blow off valves set at a safe level will be the safest, most user friendly setup that you'll find. Much moreso than a laggy single that will handle high power levels.

there is rumors over on the DTR about a turbo from ats which is VGT... suppose to be replacing the aurora series ther have/had

a rep at ats emailed me with the same story. vgt would be great except they are crazyloud with a free-flowing exhaust. look at cost to be from $2-3k.

any inputs on vgt vs. twins?

You can tow with twins no problem You should see the size of Piers older 5th wheel he tows with his 2004. 5 twins truck. You need to turn the box down but if you want to know just call his shop and ask him about temps. You can get his number by checking his website out:

I'm not sure Nathen from Boise Idaho has towed with his set up but he might chime in on this thread.

i don't see a problem with that :-laf

have you heard the ford's with the vgt? i appreciate the sound of a legacy turbocharger, however, the vgts sound more like dental drills. we shall see if it even sees fruition.

I haven't heard of anyone producing a VGT with a cfm rating as high as even the smallest twin setups. The Holset HX55V is close. In these 3rd gen trucks twins respond extremely well. My truck with a large single (actually my bottom turbo now) would peg the pyro on the track and usually by the 1/8 mile. Now that I have my twins tuned properly I have never seen over 1250* and that is a spike that lowers down to 1150-1200* shortly after the spike. That is with two boxes on the highest hp settings (where they make the highest hp not neccessarily the highest settings) where it has made up to 586hp. I haven't towed anything heavy in a while but light trailers dont effect the egt's much. With just a pressure box, twins, and a very small set of injectors it does 420hp, doesn't smoke, and will only get to 1100*.

Anyone have their stock turbo?

All of you that have replaced your stock HY35 turbo (from a 305 hp engine), and would like to part with it, I'm looking for one. I need one soon so I can get my truck back on the road. I can't put an aftermarket one on right now, because that will void my warranty. DC won't warranty my turbo, but the engine still is, so long as an HY35 goes back on.

Thanks.

SOLER

BTW, what turbos will fit on my truck? Can I use a HX35 from a late 2nd gen truck? Will it fit? Will it be obvious that it's not an HY?
