I have a friend who has a 05 with auto transmission he currently has edge juice AFE intake and 4 inch straight pipe. He wants to up grade his turbo. Since I have a 2nd gen I need some help, helping him pick a turbo with his mods. The truck need to still be able to tow in elevation between 5,000-10,000 feet pulling a bout 10k any help would be great

If he's going to throw more fuel at it then a turbo could be a little more fun for him. If all he's going to do is stick with the Juice/Attitude then the stocker is just fine. If he wants more and wants to keep it from surging then a 62/12 or 62/14 would be the choice. I have the HTB262/14 on mine and it spools every bit as quick as the stocker but I upgraded both manifolds and I have a 5" turbo back exhaust. If he is going to stay with the 4" and stock in/ex manifolds then the 12cm housing would lend itself a little better I would think. I think the best thing to do would be to call and talk to Industrial Injection or High Tech Turbo. They both are in Utah and have first hand experience with towing at that kind of altitude.

Either way he goes he needs to make sure it's upgradeable for future because once the bug bites it's all over and it leaves you wanting more. :-laf

a sps 62 from II would be my choice

Super Turbo for sure if he is gonna do anymore upgrades. It will also work well with his current mods. The 3rd gen trucks can spool the supers even faster than a 2nd gen. High Tech has the super turbos too & a little cheaper.

I second the the vote fro a PS6280 from industrial Injection.

Either that or a BD Super B.

I think either will work for him, just depends on what he wants to spend. many guys have talked about a difference using an ATS manifold as well. they flow better and while the turbo is out there is no better time to upgrade . .

The sps 62 would be a very nice turbo but if it were me , I would opt out for the silver bullet 62. I think he would be very happy with either, I had just rather have the faster spool and lower back pressure of the silver bullet 62.

thanks. . jason

Industrial Injection is the best !!!
