Well I have started the process of gatheing info on aftermarket turbos. I use my truck to tow a 20ft. stock trailer and the family 5th wheel. If I go with a HTT 62 or an II 62 what housing a 12 or 14 or should I look at something smaller. I do like to have fun in the truck as well and it is my weekend driver.

What do you all think?

If all you plan on doing fuel wise is a #10, a 62 might be a bit overkill. If you want to do injectors and stuff later on down the road, it would probably be the perfect turbo for you.

i love my 62/14, best turbo i have run by far! i have the capability to run alot of fuel, but with the electronics turned off and just my DDIIIs supplying the fuel the turbo lights really fast and runs great. if you are really worried about the lag or it being too big a 62/12 would work great but i like having the capability to flow more air. Industrial Injection is a great company to work with.

I would suggest a 62/12 PM mgarland, I sold him a charger and he ran it on his 97. He had a little tuning but loved the charger. He upgraded to twins he might still have it for sale.

I should have mentioned it is for the 96. Will the DDP stage 2's provide enough fuel, along with #10 plate adjustment, to light it off?

I will pm mgarland. By the way I updated my signature. I just notice that I had not shown that I recently installed a set of DDP Stage 2's.

Thanks for everyones input.

I tried the 62/12, 62/14, 64/14, 64/12..... the 62/12 will work great for you with the injectors & plate for sure.

It looks like are trucks are set up similiar. I am currently running a 64/12. Although it works great when the trucks empty, when Im towing at highway speeds, about 2000 rpms, it gets really hot. I'm pretty sure the larger exhaust housing would cool down the egts, but i don't want the turbo to lag any more than it does already. I have been wondering if stepping down to the 62 would help. For what it is worth, the ddp2's and the #10 would peg my pyro quite easily with the hx35. With the new turbo I have yet to see over 1400. Just thought I would let you know my experience.

I towed with the 64/14 & egts on I-68 in W. V. would get up to 1400 on a hard pull doing 25mph max because I was building heat faster than I could get the turbo to light off. I would hit the gas to try to get the turbo to catch up & egts would go to 1600* fast. I switched to a Super Stock 62 from HT & now take that same hill as fast as I want to go & egts don't go over 1100*. Ask HT or II about the 62 super compared to the 64 turbos..... Brady @ II did a comparison of the 2 turbos & will tell you that the Super 62 will outflow the 64. I gaurantee that the Super Stock 62 will be way better for you... . I've done the homework.

RWorth, I towed with a 62/12 for most of the summer in Indiana and had no egt issue at all, my mowing trailer weighs around 12k and you could tow it as fast as you wanted in od and it worked great. The mods to my truck at that time were 300 injectors, #10 plate, 3gsk, 16* timing, BHAF, 4" exhaust. It ran great, spooled fast, got 12 mpg pulling that weight everyday, and was a pleasure to drive. If you have any more questions ask away.
