Archived Which way does washer on the injector pump shaft go?

I'm in the middle of setting the timing on my '98 12 valve (215hp engine). I forgot to look at which way the lock washer was oriented when I removed it(middle of bow pointing out toward nut or in towards pump gear). Does it matter which way it is installed???

It does not matter wich way the lock washer goes on, it locks from both sides.

Doesn't matter which direction it ges on, as long as it's a new one. Having the timing slip unexpectedly is not a good thing, and washers are too cheap not to replace any time you disturb it.

Thanks! I was hoping it didn't matter. And yes, I did put a new one on--there was a fair amount of difference in the amount of bow between the old one and the new one.

Maybe that's why my timing slipped. I'm not sure if the shop used a new lock washer or not. I'm guessing no.
