Driving today for the first time with the windows down, I heard a whistling/squealing sound. At first I thought it was a brake pad backing plate dragging on a disc, but when I took my foot off of the accelerator pedal the sound went away. I tried a few things and discovered that the sound happens when the accelerator pedal is under light pressure neither accelerating nor decelerating. Listening more closely I decided it really is a whistle, non-metallic, like a hole in a boot in the intake air system somewhere.

Any ideas where I should look?

Thanks,

Al

Check the turbo hose under the airbox. If the Airbox settles on that hose it chafs.

HA, I thought that was a pic I have posted several times until I saw that GAWD AWFUL BLUE oil filter. :D

Crystal Chrysler in Cathedral City, CA replaced mine under warranty.

Good reason to be a from the TOP kinda guy when changing oil filters.

I have checked mine since it's replacement and will do so this summer when changing oil filter. If it's chafing again I will place my old intercooler hose and clamp back over it.

I knew if I hadn't covered that boost pipe I would have been setting along I-5 somewhere on my trip South that year. So yea if it starts to make a hole that sure would cause a bit of noise!!!
