Has anyone tried the White Knight back up light kit from Geno's Garage? Is it pretty easy to install and does it work well? Any info would be appreciated, I am considering buying this product.

Thanks

Did a set on my buddies 2000 Ram a few months ago. The only thing I did not like was you will need to add a small spacer(about a 1/4) under the bolts on your trailer hitch for clearance for the lights. All parts for installation are included except the spacer for the hitch.

They do light up the night for those who have to hook up in the dark and make a welcome addtion when backing up empty also. Another thing I do not like about them though is how much of a pain it is to unlock your hitch assembly to remove or intsall it. The lights hinder the hitch pins accessability. Hope this helps... ... I got a set of cheapo halogen running lights from Harbor Freight for back up lights. Some of the places I go might knock them off or break them so if that happens with these lights I'm not out much. So far, I haven't managed to break these things. They REALLY light up the place with I back up!

I installed mine about 8 months ago and love them. I also removed the switch under the assembly and moved it to the dash so I could turn them on at will. They are very bright and make a nice install.

The White Knights were my first Mod.

I love these lights.

Andy, I trimmed a little off the bottom of the housing to make it easier to get to the hitch pin.

I leave my hitch draw bar in all the time.

It really makes a mess of a grille and bumper when some moron "tags" you from behind, and saves my rear bumper. :D

Another thing...

Also included in the kit is the trailer plug relocation kit. It's not a big deal, but the screws included in the kit broke off on me when I went to install them. I ended up through bolting the relocation bracket with stainless machine screws.

With a normal (approx 6000lb capacity) draw bar from Reese or Draw-tite, you'll have to modify it to work. The instructions that come with the lights say to re-drill the hitch pin hole in the draw bar so that it will not interfere with the lights. On my installation, I would have had to move the hole back about 3/4 of an inch. The limit is no closer than 1" from the end of the bar. I didn't like this idea and have been looking for a solution. I found that the Reese weight distribution hitch draw bar is plenty long enough, and is rated at 10,000 lbs. You can mount a regular ball mount on it or a weight distribution set-up. It is a solid piece of steel, not hollow like the typical drawbars.

I really like these lights. They work really well.

Disclaimer: I haven't tried this personally yet, although it looks like it will fit with no problem.

i liked them at first but.........

after over a year..... the reflectors have cracked and are starting to rust. they don't seem to be as bright as they once were... .

gonna get some halogen lights and hook them on the bumper instead. JMVHO

I've had no problems with my cheapo lights from Harbor Freight. They have been on for several years. Standard 55W halogen light bulbs.

White Night

Installed the White Night light about two weeks ago.

It really lights up the back end!! But there is no way I can use my Ram hitch cover insert with the lights.

After a lot of smart remarks, like, here comes the" White Night"

from co-workers I trimed down a TDR sticker and covered the White Night logo in the center, looks GREAT!!!

I have a set and love them however like everyone said its hard to get the pin out and you will have to modify any hitch plug you use (lengthen) I'm not to crazy about drilling another hole in the hitch... just get a longer ball mount to take up the space in that area...
