Has anyone with a 3rd generation truck tried the White Night back up lights from Geno's? Do they interfere with the hitch, hitch pin, or safety chain holes? Thanks.

I did the same as the picture of those piaa's except I used the $20 ones from pep boys. Look the sam eand use the same bulb. After almost a year one finally went out so I put the hi wattage h3 bulbs in and now there the same as the piaa's for a 1/3 the price.

If you take your hitch off and on very often you'll get pretty tired of them. They don't seem very durable, but it's probably partly due to where they get installed and the abuse they take (rocks, water, trailer hitches, etc. ). I love 'em when they work, but next time I'll wire up and install my own.

I've got them installed on my 2004. 5. They work fine and are very bright. However, they do interfere with the hitch pin. It is very difficult to remove ball mount. If you leave the mount on all the time then I guess its okay. Also, I am unable to use my warn reciever shackle bracket. The hitch pin holes will not line up ...

I have one on my truck. Have had no problems with it since i put it on two months ago. I modified mine so it dodn't stick out so far, also painted it to match the truck. One cool thing i like about is the toggle switch, you can toggle it to come on with reverse lights, no lights or manual lights, don't have to be in the truck to turn them on. Check out the pics on my rig.

Cali-600 - Do you have any pics of your install of the white night modifications that you had to make to get them to sit flush with the bumper. I am having this same problem. I love them, but dont like how they stick out past the bumper on the 3rd Gen. Also, does these modifications make them any more prone to getting dirt/girt/gravel/water into the unit. I do know that a certain ammount of road grime, and water has gotten into my unit. But, it seems to hold up very well!!! I love the White Nights, I want to hang onto them as I belive its been the best Mod that I have done to my '98. Thanks for the information in advance!!

P. S. Sorry my sig doesnt say it, but I have just purchased a 2003 2500, so I want to take the white nights off of my '98 and onto my '03.

Give that switch a little time in the weather (salt on roads up here) and it will stop working. Mine have quit twice. I have not got around to fixing them this time as its summer and I can see just fine.

They are a good product and comany, i had a lens fall off and email white knight and they sent me two brand new lights.

It is a pain getting the hitch pin in, but most of my towing is with 5th wheel. I just put a ball mount on to protect the lights in parking lots. They may get the lights but they will probably loose there grill at the same time. :D

They do light up the rear well.

Wow, It's been awhile but I think what I had to do was remove a rubber or plastic spacer it came with and enlarge the hitch hole on the lights so It sits under the bumper Instead of beyond the bumper. The switch on mine has a rubber boot so there is no way salt or road grime is getting in there. All the wiring was split loomed and I used a set screw to attach the molex plug to the back of the lights so it wasn't hanging down collecting road grime. The lights work good for me but i can see how the can become a pain if you change you hitch a lot. I also leave my chrome 6" drop hitch in for added protection. The lights and 6" chrome hitch come right off when I put the sway bar hitch in. Once I get the fifth wheel or gooseneck set up the chrome hitch and lights will stay there for good. I did have to drill a new pin hole after setting the lights back.

I did this before I got my custom bumper made with light cut outs in it. All I did was use a 1. 5" of 1/4" flat iron and welded it in 3 or 4 spots on the back of the reciever hitch. The lights have a rubber case and are 55w, so they won't break with rock chips. The lights hung down even with the bottom of the reciever and were not in the way. Just another option for you to think about.
