ROTFLMAO! You're killin' me!... I haven't heard that one before :D:D:D:D

BIG BOB, I felt so bad after reading the BS that moron laid on you, I called last night to talk to you in person about it (as well as more interesting, worthwhile things) but Kathy said you were out joy riding with your young, visiting relatives (chauffeuring actually).

What always gets those PSD guys to shut up is when you bring up the fact that their beloved 7. 3 is over 23. 8% larger in displacement!:eek: What a joke! If the 7. 3 was actually a 5. 9 (all other things being proportionally equal), that POS wouldn't be able to get out of its own way. He!!, even a 3. 1 Isuzu would be able to spank it. :D

It's the same way in chainsaw engines... the Japanese (or anyone else for that matter) have always tried to kick butt on Stihl or Husqvarna... the problem is the ONLY way they can equal power output is with a substantially LARGER (READ: HEAVIER) engine. :D:D

..... just get back on the porch... or under it!

Looks like things heated up and cooled down over there a bit. The thread is closed, I think. Like I said, I like both engines and both trucks. However, I could talk myself out of buying either one. What one person sees as an enhancement another sees as a liability. I completely disagree with the comments I saw over there about Dodge not being a work truck. I see some pretty old Rams running around. Fords, too. The Rams (diesels) just don't smoke as bad.

All in all, it boils down to the philosophy of what we are comfortable with and what we are comforatable working on. Most of the TDR members are "do it yourselfer" types. With a little guidance and a hint or two, we'll tackle almost any job. My brotherlaw and next door neighbor own Fords (TDs). I'd be surprised if they even know how to open the hood on their trucks. However, my neighbor's son owns a CTD ('01, 4X4). He does all the maitenance on his Ram. Most of the Ford guys I know take their trucks in for service and minor repair. Most of the Dodge owners I know do the maintenance and minor repair themselves. No flames here. I said the people I know and I mean the ones I hang around with. Different trucks, different philosophy.

Unofficial Freeway Survey Results

Here in southeast Texas, I'm continually amazed at how many of the working trucks I see on the highway are Dodges. You know, the 2500's and 3500's pulling the 5th wheels, travel trailers, goosenecks with backhoes, stock trailers, etc. The proportion of working Dodges vs other trucks is much greater than the general population of Dodges vs other trucks. Still lots of 1st generation Dodges around here that are hard at work.

Same with informal campground surveys - although brand F picks up support due to its crew cab and I've noticed more GM's recently since the release of the Duramax/Allison, the Dodge still more than holds its own in my unofficial count of what people are using to pull the big 5vers!

Same way in Georgia. Thing is, open up the classifieds and there are usually 5 to 10 Ford Diesels for sale. Sunday through today there have been Zero CTDs and only three Ram gassers. I looked because of the discussion in this thread. Go to the car lots. Same thing. It's hard to find a CTD around here used and for sale. But you see them on the road and almost always pulling a trailer or with the big flat rear body holding a fuel tank for farm or heavy equipment.

Same here in Texas. Most of the PSD's haul the foremans around in the their shiny boots and white hats. The guys doing the work hauling backhoes, tractors, and such drive CTD's. I've begun to call PSD's "Brass haulers". However, the "brass" types seem to want Maxipads now... Oppps, I mean Duramax.
