Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) white smoke and vibration??

lately the truck hasnt seemed to be runnin right. doesnt feel like its lost any power but it vibrates on excelleration. i have put in new ujoints but that hasnt fixed the problem. i know the transmission is pretty worn out so i think that might contribute to the vibes. bearings showed lots of wear when we swapped the inputs shafts. what im worried about is the white smoke out of the tailpipe. truck doesnt blow as much black smoke as it was 3 days ago and when it does finally smoke, its less and half of its white. what should i be looking at as far as potential causes. my main concern is the injection pump. should i worry about that as a source. i havent cleaned the little prescreen or emptied the w/f seperator.

Well first do the prefilter cleaning and drain the WIF. Usually if it's the overflow valve causing the smoke it will have loss of power too, but not always. I'd vote for slipped timing. The actual pump being bad is extremely unlikely.

SWEET! i have the of valve and i already drained the wif. i was thinkin slipped timing because i can hear the pump more(ticking noise that follows rpms.

Check the radiator to be sure it isn't loosing coolant.

Isn't ticking often associated with a worn/bad lift pump?
