Yes I searched. I've been searching for truck since I had to sell my 3rd gen (divorce).

A good friend of mine owns a used car lot and is at an auction right now. he's got a 1999 24 valve 5 spd. Can't tell exactly how many miles are on as the odometer looks to have been shoved part way over and you can't read the 6th digit (or 1st digit)... but it would stand to reason it's 135,000 (maybe 235,000)... he can read 35,xxx on it.

It has what looks to be a brand new turbo.

He says the truck cranks and idles fine. But when you hit the accel pedal it puffs a big puff of white smoke. It clears right up and there's no miss or anything. It does this under acceleration also... when you give it throttle it puffs a big puff of white smoke but clears up right away. It cruises just fine and doesn't smoke when at constant speed.

What could I possibly be looking at if something's wrong? Granted the truck is/was not warmed up so.....

I know a lift pump is not a pricey item... but what would I expect to pay for the VP-44 should I have to replace it? And is it a DIY item?

Upon further inspection it looks as if the injection pump was recently replaced (it's VERY clean)... if that's the case could it just be the timing is off?

So much for tha idea. THe dealer who had it there would not even take a bid below $10K!! Truck wasn't worth near that especially with not knowing the actual mileage and the potential problem(s) it has.
