Now that the weather is turning a little colder here in Michigan, especially in the mornings, I am getting tons of white smoke on startup and driving thru the gears. Excelleration is non existent because of all the stumbling and hesitation. However once it warms up to normal operating temps everything is fine and runs great. My setup consists of 370 injectors and lower compression pistons with a thicker than stock HG. Is this just the nature of the beast having 370s and lower compression in cold weather?? I am assuming it is but is there anything I can do to help the problem?? Oh yeah I have the intake heaters on a manual push button switch so that might add to the problem some too. Any advice?

Thanks,

Chad

I to am in the Grand Rapids area and my truck will smoke in the winter but hasn't gotten cold enough yet for my truck to blow white smoke. Maybe the timing is out.

i thought about timing too but it only smokes when it is cold. Last time I set the timing 2 months ago it was at 16. 5 if it was a timing problem wouldnt it smoke all the time regardless of temp??

After reading that I think that could explain the terrible mileage on my automatic truck. The last day I drove it when the trans was going out I couldn't get the turbo to spool for anything. I limped the last 200 yards home at 5mph with no acceleration possible. Been parked ever since, but it made a lot of blue smoke leading up to that point. Must be a plugged cat.
