Bob's Point

I've spotted the changes Bob. It will never be as

loose and fun as it was back then. There are so many people ready to jump in and criticize. Just like my run in with Jethro this week from the midwest. He doesn't really know what he's mad about, just that he's mad. He has no actual information, just wants everyone to know he's mad and his chip is there for you to knock off.

I have a suggestion, just use a two speed power glide and solve all the problems!!!!!!! Just think of it, only 1st, 2nd, and reverse!

After reading Nowell's(HVAC) post I feel that I should clear something up. Originally we were going to seriously work with Nowell, as he at the time was going to 4-link his truck and turn it into a race truck. As that was not happening we started doing our testing with Diesel Dynamics and Jetpilot as they are able to push their trucks harder and compete more often. When we test we go to extremes and have to work with guys that are doing the same.

Our drag race converters are nothing like the one Nowell had back then, it was custom built to cater for his hp back then. Since then we have raised the bar for the higher hp trucks we are testing with today. Nowell's new TC design he is experimenting with is definately not a DTT race product our guys are running .

We are glad Nowell still thinks his transmission is awsome, since his transmission was done giant strides have been made in our transmission technology, ie) billet input shafts & hubs, billet pistons, heavy duty apply levers and really too many changes to mention.

We wish Nowell all the best with in his new ventures.

The grass is always greener on the other side. 4L80E's have their own share of problems, but the biggest pain is the $$$ for the trans and $$$ for the TCM. You'd also have to either put in a manual trans PCM, or find yet another magic box to fake out the auto trans PCM. Calif. PCMs expect to see the engine RPMs drop when the TCC is engaged, measured from the crankshaft sensor. Don't know about 49-state version, though. You'd likely need a fake output shaft speed sensor signal and governor pressure feedback based on the governor solenoid current. Might be a good conversion from a manual trans, though.

I don't know if you guys remember an old thread of mine about putting a Ford E4OD/4R100 behind our 5. 9s. The latter model 4R100 has the most improvements of all previous E4OD style trannies and is holding up well behind some high power Lightning pickups at the track. Baumann Engineering makes a stand alone electronic controller for this trans that can be custom programmed from your laptop. The only signal inputs are a 0-5 volt TPS signal (easy; we already are equiped with that), a road speed signal from the tailhousing (via Ford speed sensor), and a transmission range sensor (via the Ford trans mounted MLP switch). From there you can program your own upshift/downshift scheduling, line pressure curves, and TCC strategies.

Thanks for the earlier tip on checking with Cummins about adapter bellhousings to go to other makes of trannies. I am definitely going to check into it for a possible conversion in the near future.

Blast from the past

It was really cool to re-read this post. I remember reading it not long after I joined the TDR. Things are a bit "serious" around here. What ever happened to Porky and Scott1 of Psychotty fame?

HVAC as of this point has not done anything with his convertor--it's still the good ol DTT one--he is flirting with the idea of doing something different(doesn't know what yet) in his quest to hyper speed his way into the 11 second unknown--sloburban and sillyburban--HVAC you kill me man..... chris

John Berger

I'm glad you enjoyed rereading this topic:) I did too. It was a different time and a different place figuratively. We enjoyed our company on this site.

Porky couldn't take the liberal California attitude anymore. Like when we voted to lose the quota system and the university system ignored the very people that pay their way! They aren't too fond of the school voucher program either. Porky had enough and set sail for Missouri. He's got a small ranch/farm there and he spends his days ridin' his tractor around and tendin' to his maintenance duties.

Scott1 is still alive and well and living in the neighbor to the north, Canada. He had a brush with some funky politics and you won't see him here anymore. His strength competitions have been

put aside while he heels up his heel:) He recently organized the event in Calgary that many folks attended. I had to bail cause I had trouble here to deal with.

Thanks for chiming in John Berger:D

I met Scotty for the first time last month in Calgary, what a great guy.

Another couple of members MIA that come to mind are CMECHANIC and Sport Bike. Another frequent posted I enjoyed back on CDW was Andy Sebatek (I think I got his last name right), he went by "Andy" on the old site.

Another member I knew personally who was run off TDR back when the bickering/fighting started was Rob Myers, we got together with him a time or two but after some heated threads he bagged TDR and never came back (it was an oil thread. . . imagine that  )

John Berger you were on CDW weren't you?

Hey Vaughn, what's up. Yes, I was on CDW. Seems like ages ago. Time flies when you're having fun. I seem to recall CMECHANIC ran into a conflict of interest with his posts on this site and his job. I may be confusing him with another member, can't be sure.
