My son needs his radio repaired. The screen is delaminating. The dealer said the screen is not replaceable. I cannot find a screen for his radio.
2017 charger RT 5.7

So, what companies would repair this radio? It does have NAV.

Then, if and when my truck radio needs repaired I know who to call, besides Ghostbusters.

Dealer, who I don’t trust, wants $1000.

Bruce if you try them please post results. thanks!
I left them a message with information of what is wrong with my son's display. Since it's the weekend I got message stating they will be in contact with me within 48 hours. I know they have been around for quite some time and had some friends way back then who were satisfied. Now gotta tackle my son and have him get the radio out of his Jeep so I can fire it off once I get a response with an estimate. It's less expensive getting it repaired than buying/swapping through the dealer at over a grand. I will follow up with updates as they occur.

Did my reply in your previous request not help any? Do you have a pic of the UConnect radio in his car?
In the other thread, you showed a picture from Amazon for a display. From what I can tell the display will not fit my son’s radio. If I can find a display I will gladly tackle that myself. I have yet to find a replacement display. Also need to get my son to verify the part number on the radio.

Hopefully this was the reply you were referring to.

I figured I would start a separate thread for who actually repairs them

ALLDATA has the removal steps for the display, the thing with that is you really need to make sure it's specific to the vehicle, there looks to be a break over past 2016, there are fairly inexpensive 2016 and older screens.

So it's probably a matter of pulling the thing out, it looks super easy to pop the screen off from what I saw on the repair steps. If that's the same as his vehicle.

So.....is the son’s audio system NOT of an 8.4 variety?

gsbrockman - yes - it is a 8.4.

The link you posted doesn't show the screen to be compatible with a 2017 Charger RT.

This link shows to be for a 15-17 charger

Thanks to the awesome instructions that Tim posted, that would correlate with the above link. I keep getting on my son's case to get a Factory Service Manual since I don't have Alldata access anymore.

So, we need to get the cover off, verify the screen is like the Alldata stuff from Tim and go from there.

WO doing research into it, it looks like that "display" is the actual radio, not just the screen. Sigh - always a way to make it more expensive.

For those interested:

Infotainment got back to me the following business day via email. Great, knowledgeable customer service. Started with the simple and fast process of recommending a remanufactured replacement radio. The cost was higher than I was willing to go ($799.95 with exchange) due to the 730N optional higher end radio that came with the oldest son's '08 Wrangler. During communication with the sales rep he provided a discount code which amounted to a little over $15.00 discount on the repair and cleaning/testing of the existing radio. The rotating screen was shattered (understatement for somehow really pulverized by teenaged grandson) and needed replacement for any functionality of the entire system. The total repair, cleaning and testing was retailed at $299.95, less the discount, which brought it to $276.66 plus shipping to them. I properly packed the radio up and shipped it Priority Mail (my choice for expeditious delivery from Western Washington to Florida. I received an email when they received it. Three days later I received notification it had been fixed and shipped, with a UPS ground tracking number. Darned weekend got involved so I had to wait two extra days before it arrived on my front step on 04 AUG 21. Grandson came over and swiped it, I was busy in the hospital tending to my dear wife...post-op surgery recovery, and he had installed it, up and running in no time. So, just under two weeks for the whole process. Son and grandson saying everything looked great, all functions and visuals operational...and got a few songs added to the memory...Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Little Richard. Nothing wrong with that. :D
Overall, I consider this a successful and very satisfactory event. ***** Recommend!

Bruce, thank you so much for the response/update from their services. I will work with my son to help him get the radio out and to them for repair.

Out of curiosity, did you try using the car with the radio out? What happens since that is an intracal part of the HVAC system?

does it bake all day in the sun or why is it delaminating ?
since day one on my 2017 i just put a small towel over the screen if it sits outside all day. so far screen seems to look like new still

Yes, it sits outside all day while he is at work. Just like 99% of other vehicles. For whatever reason, this is a known issue as you can see by doing a simple Google search. But nothing is done from Dodge to remedy this on a 40+ thousand dollar car with 30,000 miles on it.

From what I can see and talking to other folks around here, you can consider yourself lucky that your 2017 dodge charger doesn’t have issues with the radio.

My son's Wrangler didn't have the HVAC controlled by the radio. Just AM/FM/SiriusXM radio, CD, DVD, Navigation, so no issues other than only being able to listen to the wind blowing through your hair instead of a cranked up radio to overcome the wind noise. I'm not sure how your son's car would react without the screen installed. Maybe the HVAC controls would be like the 50s and 60s cars; roll the windows down or up depending on the temperature and weather encountered.
Note: I believe if you contact Infotainment.com in advance, and you want to spend the extra money for expedited (overnight) shipping, they will work with you to get it in and out ASAP. If you feel your skill set is adequate, you may be able to purchase the screen and install it yourself. I was running low on time with tons of doctor appointments and other personal items, I decided the fee and time involved wasn't too bad to let them do everything. Give them a call or toss an email their direction. They will help you by providing options. Hope you have a similar experience to what mine was; totally positive.
