Well ive added DTT TC VB on my dime, but transmission was ok ,but just wanted it great.

Lift pump replaced on my dime,2 sets of tires,Serpentine belts and a pulley. 95000 miles, and oh yeah 2 sets of front pads, rear still like new. . :D

Very happy camper with this truck, but had some other nickle and dime stuff when I first got it new. .

Dodge Cummins #4

I must like these things. My 2001 (built in Feb 01), has had a new lift pump. My 97 had a brake job, sold it with 145,000mi. My 95 had nothing but tires at 85,000. My 91 had rear axle seals, all new brakes (master cylinder and everything else brake wise, all new frontend (ball joints, track bar, springs, almost everything else), new injector pump, several oil pressure sending units, and lots of odds and ends; sold it showing 192,000mi. The odometer only worked when it wanted to (guess I should list that as broken). It is still going and towing heavy everyday (I see it every now and then).

My 99 has about 88K miles on it. I have had a ton of repairs. About the only original components in the front end and steering are the axle housing, gears and springs. Everything else has been changed at least once. Track bar #3 is now trash. The front brake system is all new. The knuckles have been changed, all ball joints, tie rod and ends, steering stabilizer, steering gear, pitman arm, drag link, and the drivers side stub axle and u-joint have been replaced. The cruise control servo went out, both axle seals in the back and the passenger front have been changed. The transmission is on it's last leg, soon to give up. Knock on wood, I am still running with the original lift pump and clockspring though. I have a real love/hate relationship with this truck. The engine has had zero problems. The engine makes the truck in my case. Anything else I have ever had that even approached the problems I have had with this thing has been sold. This one probably should have been, but boy does it run good:D It has been about 20K miles since it was in the shop and that helps my attitude toward the truck.

lots of miles

I have to admit, the CTD will outlast the truck! As I write this my old man's ( also a TDR member but a disliker of computers) '96 extend-cab 4X4 is out hauling another sawmill out of New York State and is heading to New Hampshire's hills.

With over 225K on it now it has shown now signs of stopping! The engine/ auto transmission has seen BlueChip Diesel's garage for some juicing up but not for trouble. The rearend let go at 210K.

This truck has hauled over 150k worth of 6 to 9k worth of portable sawmills behind it. The larger mills would bog the old Powerstroke Ford to 40-45miles/hour on Indian Castle hill (miserable, long and bruttle) .

The Cummins, when new and stock, would putter along at 55. Now we can enjoy air conditioning and cruise control engaged, locked in overdrive, at 75mph.

Being an old farmer he would be glad to talk shop on the phone (Ted 508-234-6038 Northbridge, MA) but wont get near this keyboard.

Oh ya... if you think your truck has balls... . stop over at www.bullsballs.com You will laugh your _ _ _ _ _ off!

Happy New Year to all!

My other vehicle is a 95 Landcruiser, it has 110K miles on it and only needed fluids, filters, brake pads and 2 tuneups. It still looks and drives like new :D I know others that own FZJ80 Landcrusiers, several in OZ where they beat the h*ll out of them, they have had the same experence, with over 300K miles on them. If you ever need a SUV, buy a used 93 - 97 Landcruiser, they come with solid full floating axles front and rear, a 4. 5 liter straight six and you can get them with frt. center and rear lockers. You can't break them unless you run into a tree :D I feel like I have the best of both worlds owning a CTD and a Landcruiser. Now if they would only put the Cummins in the FZJ80 Landcruiser, that would be a beast :D Soory I got off topic :)

The 97 has 135,000+ and I had to replace the fuel shutoff solenoid at 98,000, 5th gear at 120,000 and in the process of replacing the clutch with a SBC.

The 99 has 123,000 had to replace the lift pump under warranty at 1000, the rear diff inspection cover seal at 2000, 5th gear at 110,000, and will be replacing the front pads and rotors this month.

No more Dodges

After a list like Morphious(like the handle)I gave up on my Ram @55k. The three previous Dodges in the family were pretty much the same. Sorry guys. But I still enjoy your company!

171k on my 2500. Replaced throttle cable (reimbursed under recall) one set of rotors and two sets of front pads. One track bar. Set of rubber fuel hoses. Tires two times. Jig contained KDP.

That's it, but of course it's a 12 valve.

260k+ & still going

1990 W-350 drw 4x4 chassis cab w/flatbed 5-speed

Getrag replaced under warranty @ 5500mi.

1 rear u-joint replaced @ 57k mi. -bought 2, carried the other as a spare until the truck was sold.

1 clutch slave cylinder-warranty replacement.

2 headlight switches, and a relay on the second. Lots of towing & I always run w/headlights on.

2 timing checks & valve adjusts. Due for another when sold.

1 clutch @ 110kmi. -had life left.

1 power window motor-a/c, power accessories all working.

Sold ready for some front end/steering work, and on interval for brakes. Brakes had been maintained, and when were done after the sale, needed only front pads w/a slight cut on the original rotors, and rear needed drums this time.

All regular maintenance performed properly-Amsoil everywhere.

Sold to a friend of a friend w/full disclosure @ 260k+mi.

Truck is still in town & running fine.

This truck worked every day, at least 1/3 of these miles were towing, gcvw of 14k or more.

Would I do this again? You bet! I already have-twice, and ready to order an '02.

~75 k and humming...

Delivered with stripped threads on fuel filter housing cap - replaced by dealer under warranty.

Clockspring broke once (warranty), replaced a second time under recall notice.

New steering gear box at about 35. 875k (barely in warranty - Good Dealer - no hassles - Hagan's Dodge)

Might need a new heated mirror soon - didn't work once, then started working again, so we'll see.

Going to replace air temp sensor soon just for grins; my mileage drops about 1 to 2 mpg if temps get below 40. No, it's not just "winter fuel" - I've seen big changes on two halves of the same tank when the mercury dropped out or we got a warm spell in the middle of what we call "winter".

All other changes have been optional upgrades. Two of the tires are the originals; the other two were taken out by road hazards, not wear. Truck is meeting expectations in every way.

:D

55K and going strong

When I bought the truck new it took Dodge almost one year to get the cruise control to work. At 35K Dodge replaced my leaking power steering pump, both rear wheel seals, and rear brakes (due to oil contamination).

Other than that the truck has worked great. No lift pump yet, but installed an Edge EZ and power / boost are way up so I expect problems soon. Need to get a guage to monitor pressure.

I'm sure the rest of the truck will fall apart before the engine does. Cummins knows how to build an engine. It seems most of the problems come from how Dodge implements the integration of the engine into the application.

24v most miles

I have a 1998. 5 with the 3. 54 gear,BD exhaust brake, and Mag Hytech rear end cover. I have 175,550 miles and just replaced second set of brakes in front, first set of brakes in rear, third set of tires, rear axle seals on both sides, two new batteries, and upper and lower balljoints at 161,000 miles. I would say not bad service. :p :D

103,500mi on 99 2500,5speed,4x4,EZ,275s,and gauges.

1 steering column (bad bearings) warranty

1 intermeadiate steering shaft warranty

1 power steering pump (low pressure) warranty

1 oil pressure sending unit warranty

1 set front brake calipers/pads(sticking) warranty

1 rear diff cover (warped caused leak) warranty

All above problems occured in the first 30,000mi.

Have had no problems since 30K with the truck other than the lift pump is getting weak, pressure is now 5psi under light load (measured at outlet side of filter).
