Just wondering if any of you with 19. 5s has pictures in readers rigs? Trying to get a feel of how they look on different trucks from different angles. I'm trying to save for a set and I'd like to get as much visual input as possible. TIA for your time and help.

DWela;

Here's a pic of my 2500 with 265/70/19. 5s on 7. 5 inch wide wheels.

I have more pics in my Reader's rides album. Look under BigUgly.

I have pictures of Alcoa 19. 5's in my Readers Rigs Album (click on link below). These are the 8 bolt pattern with adapters though. The cost was extreme. At the time I purchased the truck, I was set on getting the 19. 5's regardless of the cost (ouch!). The truck does handle much better with the 19. 5’s. I have read on other threads that Alcoa is going to be making an eight bolt pattern that will fit. If that is true, I’d wait or look at the Rickson aluminum 19. 5’s. I am using Michelin 185’s and any larger wheel/tire combination would require a lift. As it is they just fit on our 4x4. They look really good on the Dodge.

Yup, barely. I had to remove my mopar front mudflaps. As it is it still just clears, I haven't had it twisted up and turned with them on there yet, but there is clearance with the wheels turned chock to chock. From the looks of the system, when the suspension cycles upwards, the front wheel should travel foreward some. I believe that it would have to get real twisty for them to hit on the rear. There isn't any troubles with the fronts of the front wheel-wells and no problems with the rear wheels.

I believe this is the largest you can run without a lift or some trimming.

Big Ugly, thats what I wanted to see, what our trucks look like with those 19. 5s on. Your truck looks good, are you running with any lift or is it at stock height? Disregard the lift question you posted while I was typing at my usual glacial speed.

RADdodge, that fuel filter and pump, slick stuff! Did you set that up due to lift pump failure or to prevent it from ever happening?

Thanks Guys

It was the proverbial ounce of prevention attempt.

BTW TDR Administrators - I REALLY like the new spell checker! Better add "TDR" though - HA!

Rickson 19.5 pics, 2001, 3500 4x4

Don't think these sort of pictures/views have been posted here in this thread, so here goes.....

I'm running with steel rims 225/70R on TY303 Yokohama rubber all round. The added bonus is that number 7 fits where the factory 16 inch LT spare used to, even with the 60 gals Aerotank. Other details/links in profile below.

So John, after you install your UTE front bumper, what are you going to do about that flimsy rear one? Nice pictures again. :)

Is there anybody out there.......??

I'm thinking real hard about that ever since Christmas just gone by. Ute won't be making any type of complementary style rear bumper for the forseeable future, so I am now shortlisting.....

From the pictures I've already posted, you can clearly see that, to comply with European lighting regulations on amber turn signals, I used the space in the rear lamp clusters where the factory back up candles used to reside to wire in amber turn signals and then as a temporary solution to get past the first couple of annual DMV equivalent safety checks in England, I mounted the high-intensity rear fog lamps and the alternate back up lights (2x55w) on an aluminium bar, suspended beneath the Class V receiver.

The next step is to identify a rear bumper, (probably stainless to cosmetically match the front Ute), which is substantial enough, will work with my Class V Airhitch and will permit me to relocate and mount (ideally integrally or with some fabrication) these rear back up lights and the rear fog lights. Then I'll be a happier person.

So has anybody out there come across a rear bumper which will let me achieve all this?

JMc,

Nice looking rig and wheels. What kind of reaction do you get from europeans? Do they consider you to be some sort of american barbarian for driving such an in-your-face rig? I'll be keeping an eye out for something that'll match the ute too. I asked randy C. at uteltd if they had something too but he said not right now. He said they might come out with something universal later on but nothing right now.

When I spoke with Rickson's they said I had to have steel inner wheels. I would rather have all aluminum.

How did you do it?

Who did you get your wheels through?

Thanks

John & Dwela – I’m also interested in finding another solution to the rear bumper. Love to have a UTE like rear bumper too. Maybe if there was enough interest, they might push this up in their queue of products to produce.

Craig – It was Dual Designs. They used to advertise in the quarterly. I think he is located in Iowa if I remember correctly. One caveat is that this wheel/tire combination sticks out past the fenders about 3 inches. I was a little bummed about that and didn’t suspect that problem. I didn’t find any fender flares that I liked, but then again, I’m picky. I also had to extend my capmper’s front swing-out jacks by 3 inches to load the camper. Other than that, I’m very pleased with the set-up. BTW, the torque value on the lugs is 450 ft/lbs. That’s not a typo, 450 ft/lbs.

Here is the contact info that I have for Dual Designs:

It's been almost 2 years since I returned with my truck and camper to Europe. I think it's fair to say that any vehicle which has a different body styling, will stand out from the crowd of European vehicles I see on the highways of Europe. It's one reason why I went for the Dodge and the other was the CTD of course :D.

Surprisingly enough, there are quite a few American vehicles in Europe and they always get a second glance, because you don't often see them and yes, it does have a significant "road presence" which gets you noticed, encourages good driving skills too! Driving a dually on European roads on a daily basis demands a bit extra care and attention, - which is not a bad thing - same goes for parking, but other than that, it's not a real problem.

big Ugly

That's really a good lookin truck!! I like the stack(S?) And those wheels and tires look about just the right size for our trucks
