I have seen quite a few trucks both 94-97 and 98-02 with cracks in the dash. Most start around the defrost vents. Just want to get an idea of how many other trucks nationwide have the same problem.

My '99 2500 dash is toast. It is literally in pieces. I purchased the truck new and the dash is covered with custom dash cover since new,and windows "cracked" for ventilation when parked. I'm sure the cracks were there prior to my warranty expiration but I did not notice the cracks untill just after 36 month date. So no dealer help. Also the front dash bezel is cracked.

After this discovery I would ask Ram owners of similar trucks if they had dash cracking... Most said yes. A number of them said " No" but then we looked at their dash only to find THE CRACK or cracks.

I'm sure this failure, along with lift pump failures are outside of statistically accepted failure rates for the industry, but what can one do?

My 2000 was cracked, had dealer replace it two weeks ago under exteded warrenty. Funny thing though, I've also got a 94 gasser that has no cracks. I always put a windshield screen on and crack the windows. I just orderd a dash cover and am getting the windows tinted. Hopefully it won't happen again

My 99 has cracked on both driver & passenger side starting at the defrost vents all the way up to the gauge bezel.

dash

My 95 has never had a problem but my friend Rodger has a 2001 and it is cracked dash, it has 65k miles on it. Jim

Mine cracked the other day on the passenger side. Right in the middle of the depression (lack of something better to call it) just above the glove box. But just in the depression, it didn't crack on up to the windsheild or back to the edge of the dash.

i heard on another thread that the supplier of the dash didn't meet the spec set forth by DC and the thin dash material is too weak. there was also something about a lawsuit between DC and the supplier BUT I AM NOT HOLDING MY BREATH.

My 2000 has a crack at the defroster vents on the pass. side , I work for a chrysler / gm dealer parts dept. and its still more money that i want to pay to have replaced.

No cracks on my '98 with 120k miles and lots of hot Utah sun with no cover or windshield screen. Hope it stays this way. Almost looks like the newer trucks are having more trouble.

Crack's in my dash

undefinedundefinedundefinedMy 1999 2500 4X4 has 2 long cracks (one on the passenger side from the windshield to the glove box and one on the drivers side from the windshield towards the steering wheel). I also have many small cracks and a piece missing on the passenger side dash board. I just recieved a dash cover since a new dash board costs over $800??? from the dealer.

My 2001 with 85,000 miles has several cracks in the dash and one in the black bezel right in front of the driver. But my mothers 99 with 120,000 has no cracks, and neither does my grandfathers 98.
