I have not noted a Texas truck with (96 model year) with the "blue" interior that did not have a cracked dash pad "cover. " Read everyone I've seen has multiple cracks. I've noted no issues with other colors.

The steering wheel leather is junk though.

No cracks in my '01 and for the life of me I don't know why. Never garaged, hot Colorado sun, 125k miles... EVERY other vehicle I've owned has had cracks in the dash. FWIW, I have superstitiously avoided using ArmorAll on it, but I choose neither side of that debate - could be coincidence.

Cracked Dash

My 96 has a small crack starting in the middle next to the windsheild. Tried putting some super glue to see if I can slow it down some.

I suspected that there were several out there.

Many of the trucks that come by the shop have a crack or two. Keep an eye on this thread, I am working on an inexpensive fix.

Cracked dash

My 96 had no cracks or any other problems at 200,000 when I sold it, but the 2001 that replaced it looks like a road map! Once they start they take over. Both were Mexico built trucks.

My '99 has no cracks. Been sitting outside in Las Vegas summers for five years. I DON'T use Armorall, do have the windows tinted (was 32%, went to 20% four months ago), no dashmat installed, and religiously put up the sushade when not driving it. IMO, if you use a sunshade, you won't get cracks. ;)

I don't know about plastic, but you do not want to put Armorall on vinal dashes (Refering to older MoPar's). The silicone doesn't allow the material to breath. Also understand that once you start using Armorall, you have to keep using it, otherwise your dash will dry out and crack (maybe plastic dashes could be affected the same????). Just my 2 cents.

Mine was fine in Colorado, moved to Texas 18 months ago and now have two cracks one from the drivers vent and the other from the passengers vent (Light Gray Int) :{

Looking for dash mat now, any recommendations?

Kevin

a road map is an understatement. i have cracks all over... front to back.

i wonder if there is any consistency in the weather or for me they got alot worse after i installed the stereo... ... hmmm

I bought my '99 from a guy in Texas. It has two cracks starting at the vent, he said it was that good 'ol TEXAS sun. I guess I'll take the cracks in exchange for being rust free :)

2001-early (6/00 build) 64K miles Camel interior with no cracks.

This truck lived in Georgia the first year and a half of its life, in Michigan for the rest. I don't use any sun shade or cover on it. I also don't armor-all it or any thing.
