my dash is getting so many cracks that chunks are about to start falling out! I saw on another thread that the sub that made the dashes cut corners and molded them too thin, hence the cracking, doesn't matter what color.

Ain't no crack anywhere in my truck. (it's illegal and addictive I'm told :-laf )

My 94 dash is not cracked despite my painting it flat black.

No cracks here.

Have you narrowed down what model years or other variables (Exposure to sun?) affect failure rates?

To the best of my knowledge it is just 99-00 that are affected. Sun has nothing to do with it other than maybe accelerating the cracks, it is the thickness of the plastic.

'97, grey interior, built in Mexico, no cracks so far. I put Armor All on the dash once or twice over the years. No sun shield, no garage, no window tints. Next time I walk outside it'll probably shatter like a cracker though.

Question: Any correlation to driver smoking / not smoking?

cracks

96 has crack all the way down the center, It was a cool day and I was backing truck up the driveway with my boat behind it. I heard a POP and looked foward and seen a large crack coming from the vents all the way up the dash to the top of the radio..... SUCKS!!!!!!!! DC needs to here US!!!

Dash Pads??

Ok guys,

Who has the best dash pads and what do they cost? For that matter, where can I get any dash pad for my Spiderwebbed '99????

I looked at several when I worked in a D. C. dealer. The ONLY ones cracked had gooey stuff on them. Armour all etc. It attracks HEAT. The ones just plain wiped down or left dirty(construction trucks etc. ) never saw a crack. Some manufactures had TSB'S on this and if slick and gooey NOT covered.

My '95 3500 dash has more cracks than a plumbers convention. Anybody know where I can get a replacement without paying too much?

I heard a "pop" the other day when I slowly drove over uneven ground. I was wondering what popped, hope it wasn't my dash. EXT warrenty will get it if it did split.
