time to help the Scouts again !!!

I just paid off the note on my '92 so what do I do? I go back into the tank for the wife (and me too) and got a '98 Durango. It's real nice, Chillipepper red, 5. 2, 3rd seat, cloth, no rear AC, big tires/ flares, 25000 miles. Got a good deal at a Dodge dealer in NJ, got a Chrysler service contract too. Are there any good sites or boards out there for this truck. Does anyone here have one? All my friend have or told me to get a Caravan, but this is the last real MOPAR!

We also have a Durango. 98 SLT+ with leather 3rd seat, rear air, skid plates, full time 4WD transfer case and just about every thing else we dont need that is available. We love it! We just turned 36K miles. The only bad thing I have heard about a Durango is the gas mileage. We have 10 at work, and I havent heard of any major problems or gripes. These guys love to complain, so if they were a POS, I would hear about it.

Here is a web site for the Durango owners

I've had one for the past week as a rental. 2001 model. We have found our next vehicle purchase. I like the V-8 power. My wife likes the ride and room. Now we just have to decide on a color. If the one I've had is any indication, I'm sure we'll be happy with it.

I also own a 98,,Its Black,5. 2,completely loaded, power all around, front and rear air,3rd seat, full window tint, optional directional wheels(like the 1500 Rams have),c/d cassette, and the h/d transfer case,,It is a great piece to drive, plenty of power and is very agile in traffic,,Rear air is a god send on warm days and will freeze you out no matter what temp outside,,Mopar chat has a Durango board if thats what you mean, not sure of any others,,Only problem with my Durango is after 34,000 miles my loving wife has fallen in love with my diesel Ram,,So its off to the truck dealers then bye,bye Durango,,She loves it(at first she hated the ride, she was in a 94 LHS Chrysler before)but, now after driving it a while she told me she wants a diesel, maybe then I can have mine back on the weekends,,Only complaint she had was fuel milage, but, with an Air Raid cold air system and teaching her to ease the pedal down to go(LHS was never this powerfull she said) it was ok for her,,Its average in my service book, since we keep all records of fueling and maintence together, was 12-15 around town and 15-19 on the road,,Its been a little worse ,but that relates to the larger tires I installed to fill up the wheel wells better,,Over all I hate to see it go,its a great piece, plenty of power, room to travel as a family and goes in the snow great,,Alas, the CTD fever has hit her so as soon as I get one for her I will find it a new home... ... .

Last May my wife bought a 2000 Durango SLT+ 4x2, bright white with tan leather, 360, 3rd seat, rear air, in-dash CD with rear-mounted CD changer, factory fender flares & fat tires/wheels and all the other goodies the factory could throw into it. #ad
She has put about 10K miles on it and loves the thing - you couldn't pull her out of it with my 3500.

Only warranty problem so far was a squeak in the driver's door area - taken care of by the dealer. She does let me drive it every now and then. The 360 runs pretty darned well... . it gets crappy gas mileage, but she doesn't care as long as I'm paying for the gas. #ad

Ditto what Hot Shot said.

Only problem we've had with ours was the driver's side window quit working about 5 months after we got the truck. Quickly fixed by the local dealer.

I had an oilburning problem along with detonation. Turns out there is a TSB on the intake plenum. The gasket was leaking and it was sucking air and oil. All better now.

Thanks so much fellas! Yhea it's a nice ride, can't wait for the muffler to fall off so I can put something else on, it sounds sooo good when driving around with the windows down- kinda the way the cummins does.
Thanks Conleyjo for the link, just what I wanted. There are many Durangos around here and some are too customized to the point of being tacky. I like 'em plain or mild.

Waitin' on the Delta/Detroit V6... (V-block inefficiency/durability shouldn't be a big negative for a wifemobile)... I think the $2/gallon gas is finally having the "hmmmm maybe Diesel's not so obnoxious after all" effect on her!
