How much is the cost for all related parts if you do the labor yourself? How long did it take and would you do it again?

Other than the specific handful of tools needed and the replacement pump, no great cost involved. But if you're not reasonably mechanically inclined, don't underestimate the job...

Sure, I'd do it agan - probably faster too - took a bit over half a day, due to other minor stuff I did at the same time!

I should also mention that there are several excellent How-To articles avaiable that give step-by-step instructions on doing the job - if you choose to do it yourself, you should check them out.

I used a steering wheel puller on the front gear. It took about 30-40 minutes to swap. I am a mechanic for a living though.

i have replaced 3 on mine alone! takes me a total of 4 hours, with beer breaks and what not... lol. i would do it again cuz it saves you so much money!

Pretty easy job, mechainically speaking. Took a couple of hours. Like others said, print off a good set of instructions and take your time. I also used a steering wheel puller.

Good Luck

i think the hardest part is getting on the #6 line. if you dont have a power steering puller industrial injection has a pump gear puller for $35 .

As someone suggested, you only really need to remove the three lines that connect to the drivers side of the VP44, the other three (Which includes no. 6) can be pushed over to the block to R&R the pump. SNOKING

Basic automotive knowledge... . you will be fine. I used the Haynes manual to guide me through the job & had it done in 2 hours. I used a steering wheel puller to get the gear off. If you have a small mirror..... you will need it to align the gear to TDC before removing it. It will save you some time.

How Much For The Pump? Where Do You Get Them?

I got mine from Rip the price was under $1100. It carried a 1 year xxk mile warranty (forget). Let Rip know if you intend to tap the pump wire. Same price same warranty if you l let him know before hand so they build a special (not sure how) pump.

HEH HEH HEH - they put in a dummy wire that doesn't really connect to anything inside the VP-44... :-laf :-laf

My first time took 3hrs. and I did not remove all the injection lines. The other lines that are in the group with #6 I left on and removed the others. The ones l left on could be gently pushed back far enough to get the pump out. Also I needed a little heat to get the pump shaft out of the gear, not much but enough to make it pop loose.
