If you can weld make one , thats want I am going to do , I can not agree with the cost of whats avalable,
If I was casting alum. ones I mite think that thats what there worth , but thats why I make a lot of things formyself .

I bought mine from Autowurks Diesel in Caldwell, N. J. Don't remember the price but I checked several places and they were the cheapest. Their number is 973-226-7800 and they have a website at www.autowurksdiesel.com Check them out, they are very nice to deal with.

i think i do need the extra fluid, in the summer gauge will read 180 190. dont forget i am running 36'' mud tires its extra stress on the trans. (dtt). an i am doing more lift an going up to 38'' tires very soon. stock tires i feel would be dif, an i would agree. this time of year its fine i see 125- 150 max,but summer really gets the fluid. what do you think?does this make sense?

I would say that you would gain more by the material and the fins in the bottom of the pan than anything. I would lean toward mag-hytec If I was buying a new pan.

I agree that the extra capacity is good. Wish I had some before and after temps on my wife's truck but I installed the gauges at the same time as the dd pan. Don't have oversize tires but it runs about 120 in the winter and 150 in the summer in 90+ degrees. At the same time I changed to Amsoil synthetic fluid, don't know how much this had to do with it. The deeper pan, extra capacity, and fins have got to help.

There is more to the extra capacity than just heat. You need to also consider the contamination factor as well as additives available ect..... :)

I just bought mine a 2 weeks ago directly from Mag-Hytec. The price was just about the same as anywhere else I have looked. All said and done I ended up paying $302. 00. I agree with Mark Craig on the aspect of it not lowering the temps all that much, but the reason I bought it was to simply put more fluid through the transmission. I think of it as by the solution to pollution is dillution (more fluid less pollution).

If you have the $$$, the ATS Trans pan is extreamly nice. A very heavy cast pan (probbably 1/4 thick or more) with internal baffels, and external cooling fins. The machining was also very good, bolted up perfect and no leaks. It was pre-drilled and tapped for my trans temp gauge too.

I have only had it on for about a month, and haven't towed with it yet, but the highest trans temp I have seen is 150 degrees. Normally the trans temp is reading about 125 degrees.

I saw a guy who once welded two steel pans toegther then on the bottom welded tubes int place going thru the bottom of the pan so air would flow thru them cooling the fluid around the tubes. It was pretty trick he said it worked extremely well but I never saw any #'s
