Quick question. .

For those that have em there, does the pod put the gauge face in a straight on view (to the driver) or is there some angle to it?

I ask because I am thinking on putting some SPA digital gauges up there and know from the one I have in the A pillar that if you have a little downward angle of the gauge its view is more crisp rather than straight on.

I see Autometer has a 2" gauge sleeve with a built in angle so you could angle the gauge more,

or I may need to put them in the cubby.

I have the gauges above my mirror. They are angled just enough that you can read them. Hope this helps

Kris

Hey Kris, So I would read that as they are angled but not straight at the driver-yes?

If not straight at you, would you say they are up or down more or to the right more??

I have the OH pod (see my readers rigs pics) and the exhaust temp guage is pointed almost exactly at my eyes. Double check the mounting depth of your guages as the pod is very shallow. The rear of my guages touch the rear of the pod.

I got mine above my mirror and I think you can see them perfect. With the pod they do have a slight angle facing you of course, you can just glance over and check out your readings.

I got a picture in my readers rigs that you can see

Hrmm, kind of hard to tell for sure where they are pointed in the pics. For a standard gauge the angle looks perfect but for an lcd gauge it may not be.

To better explain what the SPA needs for viewing angle is if you mounted a "spot lamp" in that pod it would need to shine at your neck or chest level vs eye level or worse yet above the eye.

Assuming a spot lamp was in the pod. . where do you think it would shine?

Matt I guess that would depend on how you sit, from what you said the spotlight would hit my lower right chin. I dont know if that helps, let me try to upload a picture of how I sit

check my readers rigs I uploaded a picture under MODS its the last picture, my camera sucks so sorry its not clearer.

Now that is an interesting pic for sure, I know your A Pillar wouldn't work well with SPA's with that angle but the overhead looks like they actually point down more than eye level which would be great.

The SPA thats in my SRT pillar points right at my eye which is great for standard gauges but marginal on the SPA. I can raise my elec. seat enough to see it real well though.

It's something in the display thats manufactured that way. , if you try and view the display from "below straight on" it starts to fade but bring your eye level above and it's super crisp. The chin comment was perfect, BTW how tall are you and if you have the electric seat is it set high/med/low?

Thanks for taking that pic!

Im 5'11", I took the picture from the back seat so I can get the entire view, I have my seat all the way down reclined back slightly, I can try to get a better picture of just the windsheild pod by itself, hold on for a few

I cant get a good picture of it, sorry.

I am just over 5'8" and run my seat same as you. I think that overhead pod may work ok.

This weekend I will finish up some testing I am working on for a rail pressure gauge.

With so many boxes changing rail pressures I would like to keep an eye on whats going on there. Thanks again for taking the extra pic.

Oh and BTW the wife has that same JVC in her car... its sweet.

yeah tell me about it my fiancee got it for me for christmas it bounces from my truck, to the house, to her car, to the toybox, its awesome, I recommend it to everyone.
