I was wondering who here gets the Gout? In case you don't know what it is it is a build up of Uric acid and that in turns leaves Crystal's in the blood stream and then they settle to generally the lowest point of the body. Which is the feet or the toes, but you can also get it in other parts of the body, like hands wrists ankles fingers. Usually where there is a joint and the Crystal's will form there and then when you move the affected area the result is excruciating pain which is like this:{ :{ :mad: :{ .

I get the Gout so bad at times I have to take medication for it 3 times a day. I get it in the feet, and in some of my fingers:{

The medication I take twice a day is INDOMETHACIN or also known as INDOCIN and the other pill I take once a day is ALLOPURINOL also known as ZYLOPRIM.

Once I get the Gout I have to double my water in take to flush out my system and also eat a bunch of Cherry's, they also help to eat them anytime its kinda like a small tune up or a fuel additive foe the system that just isn't up to par:mad: . Dose anybody else here get the Gout? How do you deal with it? The really bad part it I hat it when I get it so bad I cant put my soaks on and have to take off from work, which is usually when it is really nice out and I cant walk. I just want to see if there is anybody else out there suffering with me.

Truckie, By any chance are you of French ancestory? They used to call gout the Frenchman's disease, said it was from a rich diet, as the French have alot of heavy sauces.

E7Mack, So what are you saying, the system is backing up?

I get it bad, especially one ankle. Fastest relief once it starts is a good anti-inflammatory and lots of water, and I mean lots. like as in a gallon jug over about 4 hours. But then I am usually feeling fine again. I use Indocin some but find I can get just as good of relief from some over the counter Ibuprofin combined with some Aleve. Check with your doc first to make sure that poses no complications for you. The Allopurinol is what they call a prophylactic medication, you need to start taking it when you feel fine and it will help in getting the uric acid out of your system and reducing or even preventing flare ups. Also if you watch your diet, most uric acid comes from ingesting Pureens which are high in things like red wines, and other alcohols, organ meats like liver, all shellfish, especially shrimp, and some fruits such as strawberries.

Yep.

I found Gout Cure, herbal formula, follow instructions closely, takes care of it. Take one a day after the attack subsides, keeps it from coming back.

Had it in the ankle once so bad, had to clutch with the right foot. Smooooth shifting.

You start considering amputation after a bit, not kidding. :(

Elite1 No I am not French I am 100% German and 100% bull headed:D :-laf . I don't eat a lot of shell fish once in a blue moon. No wine and I don't drink because that is what usually brings on the gout :{ At work when I am in the wearer house I walk 10 to 12 miles a day all on concrete, that is why I love it when they send me out on the road to do deliverers. C M I know what you mean about H2o intake you really have to in cress it to flush out the system.

Gout

I had gout but since I started taking Allopurinol I haven't had a problem. It's been about 6 years now. I know it's very painful.

EZmack96: put a "DR" in front of your name so I can show my wife.

gout?

Truckie:

One of the oldest Gout medications is colchicine. It's downside is that not everyones' stomach will tolerate it. It's used two ways. Both a maintenance dose (I started at . 6mg once a day, then had to increase it to . 6 twice a day. In the event of an accute flare-up, take one every two hours until either you get diahrea or the pain is gone. (I've yet to get diahrea from it. All bodies are not built the same, so it may not work for you. ) I'm trying to get allopurinol into my system to cut down on the colchicine; so far with mixed results. BTW, I have gouty bunions on both feet by the big toe. I made a tool to make a bunion pocket in work shoes. If you have this problem, send me a PM and I'll get you a picture. It's really simple to make.

My Dad has had this problem on several occasions in the past. I know he had to take Zyloprim too. Made his feet swell to about three times their normal size. Doesn't look like a lot of fun. :{
