Competition The new ride : )

With BFG AT 315/75R16s and 16x8 MB wheels (that give an addt 1" of backspace clearance) and a 2 inch leveling kit (Daystar spacers) I get no rub on the fender, control arm at full lock, or inner fender liner.

I will get a slight bump/rub on the inner fender liner only when >5mph turning and hitting a bump - like turning into a parking lot with a drainage cut curb. Very predictable, controllable, and hasn't done any damage in the less than half dozen times it's happened in the last 18 months. Check out my readers rig gallery to see what they look like.

Don't turn the wheel as far. That's about as easy of a fix as you'll find. The ideal fix is a different wheel with only a small change in backspacing to clear the arms.

Yes, the arms can be changed. You'll be able to buy a few sets of wheels for what they'll set you back though.

all you have to do to keep the tires from rubbing the CAs, is adjust the steering stops a little.

Beats the crap out of guessing how far you can turn before hitting ;)

Propuller (used to be on here haven't seen him for a while) ran taller tires with no rub on stock hieght truck. He had a set of control arms made that were slightly longer. This moved the front axel ahead and the tires away from the fenders. Also you could have them made from solid steel stock, that is thinner and less rubbing, make them a little longer then stock and the problems solved.

I talked with Kirt(propuller) and no other mods were made, the length did not effect steering, coils, driveshaft. Last I saw the truck it was running 700 hp, twins, N2O, hooked to a gooseneck, and truck pulled werever they let him, so you know it was exersized.

i've got a 98 with 315/75/16 procomp extreme at's that rubbed bad not on the control arms though but on the very bottom outside corner of the fender even with a leveling kit the problem i had was after adding the leveling kit for some reason the wheels weren't centered in the wheel well any more but pushed back a hair so i ended up swapping it out for a 5in skyjacker kit and i definetly don't have any rubbing anymore! i also have a less than net smart bud with a 97 with 36in goodyear mt's (mil hummer tires) and a leveling kit that barely rubs with 10" wheels ha i neglected to mention mine are on 10" wide black rock krawlers

I have a 2000 with the 2" leveling kit. I installed 315/75/16 Baja Claws on the stock 16x8 rims. It rubbed BAD on the lower control arms and was cutting the knobby parts of the tires. I bought some 16x8 M/T Classic Locks and now I have no rubbing anywhere, although the wheels stick out about 2" more than the stock ones.
