I am curious how everything lines up when you put a Buckstop on a truck equiped with the Sport package. Pictures would be cool too. :)

I don't think they make one for the 01 sport but I could be wrong. I believe that you'd have to change over to the 97 sport grill (which is flat across the bottom just like the non-sport) like I have on my truck. I changed to a sport grill from the chrome one because I was trying to get as much chrome off the truck as possible.

I have an 01' white sport and yes i installed a buckstop. Looks fantastic. I was a bit worried at first because I thought it would be to blocky looking but it looks very good. The lines blend right in and I couldnt be happier. I dont have any pics yet but hopefully soon.

I assume that yours was cut in the front so the bottom of the grill sits below the bumper. If so, how much gap is there between the grill and bumper.

I don't know if the factory makes a different bumper for regular and sport, I did tell him I had a sport and yes it came with a "cut out" from headlight to headlight. Their is a 1/4 inch gap in the very front between bumper and hood and maybe a 1/2 inch gap on the sides just by the headlights. Then the bumper runs under the headlamps to the wheelwell with no gap.

Sorry I dont seem to educated about the bumper, never really thought about it I guess. I told him what I had and it bolted right up so I never had to ponder any other scenario's :). I'll see if I can get some pictures taken this afternoon.

That would be what I expected. Actually when I bought it I was lead to believe that it sloped down and tucked under the grill like the 3rd Gens. However when I went and picked it up was when I found out that it was actually cut so that the grill went below the level of the bumper. I didn't say much cause it was paid for and I figured that wasn't right to say something when I hadn't seen it installed. However when I installed it I found there was a gap between the bumper and grill in excess of 1" in the center and almost 1. 25" towards the sides. Plus you can see down through a gap directly in front of the headlamp. And what irks me is after I sent them pictures and called them they said that they have seen instances where the body was in the wrong position on the frame. As you can see from the pictures the bumper is lined up perfectly with the fender so that is not the case. These pictures are the same ones I sent to Buckstop. It seems to me there is something wrong with the way the bumper was cut but they don't seem to think so. What does everyone else think? Take a look at the pictures and tell me that should be normal. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this bumper. There is not another bumper that besides stock that I would even consider and the paint color turned out almost spot on. The purpose of this thread was to see if this is the way all of them are or if I did get one that was mis-measured or mis-cut.

I havent compared the pics side by side with yours, but there's definately a gap. Didnt seem as pronounced until you got me really looking at it  . Oh well, the only part I dont care for now is the way the bottom of the grill is hidden below the bumper just a bit in the middle... . I could have gone on happily in my ignorance but no... . ;) jk I still love the bumper.

Well crud, I had another pic of the bumper close up showing the gap but I think I deleted it. I will get another one taken at post it so you can see it close up.

Thanks, if it ends up being that this is the way it is then I will go on with life without a second glance. However if I would have known it was this way then I would have gotten the non-sport bumper and bought a new grill. Oh well, my fault for not making absolutely sure. Like you I love my bumper regardless. :)

The fit and finish as seen in the above pictures is LIGHTYEARS better than what I have hanging off both ends of my '94.

Live and learn. You get what you pay for. Etc. , etc.

Matt

First I want to say that I think that they both look good.

It's too bad that the middle couldn't have been dropped down to the bottom of the grill like the 3rd gen or the Road Armor bumpers do but on stuff like this it's good to realize that no one else looks at it with your critical eye.

3 of us are getting the Trailready bumpers in about a month. They don't make a sport bumper so my grill has to go. Plus I want a chrome grill.

We considered Buckstop. But over all I'd say it looks great.

BTW what did you guys do with the factory bumpers? I'm still deciding if I want to sell it or keep it just in case.

Ok - with teh Buckstop - what did you guys do about the front springs - upgrades or stops?
I already have the Skyjacker D25 coils and do not notice any difference. Maybe, (and I do mean maybe), it might be a little more plush but hardly noticable. And I didn't take before and after measurements but I do not notice that it sags any more then before. However keep in mind that there is no winch in mine. :)

Mine got in a squabble with a mailbox at 2 MPH and lost. However if mine would have been good then I would've kept it. You can hardly give them away so I would keep it in case you were to trade the truck in on a new vehicle. Trade in value would be no more whether the bumper was on or not. Might as well sell the bumper separately.

I got lucky and used mine as part trade for a slightly used Southbend clutch :D . Now I can put all the power to the ground.
