Who is still running stock 3" exhaust on the trucks? And why and if you got a 4" would you go with a muffler or with out?? Thanks Olee

My dad still has the stock exhaust on his 99, but its only because we dont have the time to put a 4in on it yet. Dad would go with a muffler because he doesnt like drone we have in the cab with the straight piped 3in.

My cat fell off so I had a shop put in a piece of straight pipe and a straight through muffler as far back as he could get it. I woud like to have a 4" but just don't have the funds. I would definetly go back with a muffler if I went with a 4" system. No muffler is just too raw for me.

Still 3" because the exhaust brake is 3" and don't want to replace it along with the system. If I was going to do it probably be 4" straight through.

Still running the stock exhaust on my 2000 model also. Removed the muff and kept the resonator when the truck was almost new, it sounds too good to change - ha!.

I plan on getting a 4" that is just a tad quieter than how it is now, just havent decided which way to go, which is why it hasnt been done yet. (Straight pipe with twins - or single with a muffler). Also will need to do something about the 3. 5 inch BD brake on the turbo.

Have been waiting for a twin setup to come out that utilizes the stock HX-35, and possibly has a provision for an exhaust brake, and what would be ideal is to have the brake come with the twin setup.

Also, would like the exhaust tip to look as close to stock as possible (the 2000 has the diagonal cut tip).

I like the exhaust in my truck. Its troublefree and quiet. I would change it out or at least take out the restrictions if it would smoke less or spoolup faster. I have heard there is not that much difference from stock to 4 inch on a 350 horsepower truck. Right? Wrong?

Stock exhaust here but I was under the rig and noticed holes where the tail pipe hangar bracket is welded and posibly a hole behind the muffler, The truck is only 4 years old with 65,000 miles. . My wifes caravan is ten and still has all original.



So im lookin for a 4" and have not yet made up my mind on what to buy.

No I have a Jacobs exhaust brake mounted on the turbo. I figure necking up to 4" there would not be benefical unless the exhaust brake replaced. Is that a wrong thing to think?

There is a huge difference, mostly in the turbo spool-up. I owned my truck 2 days and chopped the stock exhaust off and tossed it.

Meanwhile, the original exhaust is still good.

I ran my truck with no exhaust other than the down pipe and I didn't really notice a difference from that to when I put the rest of the exhaust back on... 3".

I want to upgrade my exhaust, but I want to run an exhaust brake. I have not made up my mind on which system to get. I would want a muffler.

If your stock, might want to check with DC... I believe there is a extended warranty on the "noise emissions"...



Just a thought... you'd at least get a new exhaust for someone else!

Still have it all stock on my truck. I'd like to straight pipe it, but I really want to go 4" single stack with a little rain guard flapper. I love being a little annoying, and sounding as much like a big rig as possible.

I know that at least one other person who has replied has had the same experience, and I dare say most if not all the others have as well.

While this thread is not a direct solicitation, to start a thread under the pretense of soliciting business is just trying to skirt the guideline. I do not know Olee nor have I ever done business with him. Olee, you may be a fine person and someone I'd love to do business with, but this rubs me about the same way a phone solicitor does when I'm watching a ball game or eating a meal. My time on the TDR is relaxing, refreshing, and enlightening. I don't like it interrupted by a solicitation.



I would imagine others feel the same way I do and I just thought you might want to know that this tactic may be detrimental to your business instead of a good means of advertisement.
