Biggest boost for 160-pump hp? $4k budget...

Looking to upgrade to a Killer B but am wondering what will it do when towing? My old set-up with the BD4's wasn't a problem but with the new EDM's it gets a touch warm so will the Killer tow very well? Where does it spool on a 2nd gen truck the reg Htb2 spools at 1650rpms now? Hoping to go up around the 525hp mark but still need to be able to tow 12,000 or less. Here in Texas low elevation but hot summer temps. Any ideas?

Sorry I cannot help with an answer to your question but I am curious what housing you have on the HTB2 (12 or 14). Spooling at 1650 is pretty good IMHO.

It's the 12cm worked great but I guess I added to much fuel... With the Bd3's it actually ran cooler when I towed guess it pulled more boost than just running down the road empty. Just am unclear as to whether the Killer will allow me to tow? Any haul A**

I had towed with mine, but it was on a third gen. That's why I really didn't mention it previously. I have a 20' car trailer and a 10' dump trailer. I have had both loaded and towed with the Killer B and thought it did a good job as far as singles go for keeping things cool.

Had a gooseneck on with about 6 ton of hay last night but as Lloyd said, it's a third gen. Handled it fine though with my 40 HP injectors and the TST (old program) on 4:3. Accelerating temps at 25 pounds boost around 1000°.

I have an HTB2 (14) and it tows real good for me. I don't tow much other than my play truck anymore so I am only looking at around 7500 - 8000. I have DD3's and I can pull pretty much any hill at 80, boost around 30, EGT's never higher than 1200. My only small complaint is that the turbo seems to huff very very easy, so easy that it will sometimes do it when going from drive to overdrive while towing. Otherwise I like it. Not positive where it spools at, but I will check this afternoon and get back to you.

Thanks for the replys, might try to sell my HTB2 and buy a Killer but they are on back order. Lmills would you order another one now that the other is gone?

What's involved in the upgarde? I was under the impression it could be done by the owner. Maybe pay full price for the upgrade parts and send your parts back for a refund?

Sorry if I am a bit ignorant on this one.

yes I would have looked into buying another one without a bit of hesitation. But other things have came up. So I won't be going that route this time around

Thought I would throw this photo in for you guys. This machine isn't terribly heavy weighing in around 8000 pounds but the trailer is an additional 6500. I run my TST on 3:3 (old program) while towing and the Killer B2 handles it just fine with my setup, no temp issues. No complaints here but there's always room for improovment so twins are in the works.

Killer B2 up top, probaly S400 on the bottom. I was thinking HT60 but I would prefer the CW rotation of the S400. We'll see how it works out.
