What the heck do we have here? Someone dumped these guys near our house on Friday. I think the dark one is a Catahoula and the other looks like a Blackmouth Cur, (the roof of his mouth is black, too. ) I'd like to list them on their respective "Rescue" lists, but I want to make sure of what I have first. The "lists" are pretty picky about lineage.

I'd keep 'em, but that'd make SEVEN DOGS at our house!
Thanks for any help in identifying these little boogers!

Pretty good lookin dogs!Don't know about the tan one but the dark one looks like Lab/ Australian Shepherd mix. We have a Lab/Aussie mix and she looks a little like that one. Short hair and all. Showed the pictures to my wife, probably a good thing for me we don't live closer!

We takin bets?

Lefty looks like Yellow Lab and German Shepard.

Blacky looks like maybe a little Heeler. I agree on the Catahuala
Neat lookin pups anyway!

I think they are fine critters,I have one just like the one on the left good dog, somebody told me he was a Hines= 57 varietys. The other one is part Aussie and part unknown. They would prabably make good cattle dogs though.

People dumping their dogs out is one of my pet peeves, even more so than guys who hog up the hammer lane. Someone dumped a basset hound out on us this evening. My wife is already naming it #ad
I did drive the dog over to the guy's house that I've seen her at and force him to tell me some lame story about how it wasn't his dog #ad
Man, now I may have to start earnestly shopping for an extended cab just to haul our dogs around in.

Who cares what they are... they are nice, heavy boned mutts. Tan one looks like our old Rusty 1/2 Yellow Lab 1/2 traveling salesman! The other looks like Aussie/Catahoula Leopard... AAM (All American Mutt). The guy in the middle looks happy... gonna keep um?

Hey Statland! The guy in the middle IS happy! Happy they didn't end up dead. We've resued ten dogs in the last year, and have adopted out most. We kept two, Larry and Rose. We also have two Beagles, Maggie and Jack.
Last Labor Day, my neighbor asked me to move some hay bales into his barn. As I entered the barn I saw a horrible sight. He had a young red Australian Shephard tied up on a two foot piece of chain to the barn wall. Had been there a while. "Buddy" had lacerations all the way around his neck from pulling against the too-tight collar, and was living in his own feces. Well when the old guy asked what he owed me, I said, "I'll take that dog!" He agreed, (I think he was scared I'd call the law on him. ) We even got his pedigree.
It's taken us a while, (and many vet trips), to get him back in shape, but now he's a beauty. And he's part of the family.

So now we are at five dogs, two bunnies (also dumps, thrown out of the car in front of our home), two barn cats and one horse. Makes for a pretty busy day.
So, the two little pups are going away. It looks like we've found them both a home with a local retiree who loves dogs.

Thanks, TDR, for all your help!

Jim, You're allright... and beyond! My experience has been that if ya got a dog (taken care of) you're good people. Thats why so many Presidents have dogs. . to try to look like good common people. Remember L. B. J. and his beagles him & her? All that heat he took over picking them up by the ears!

We have Standard Schnauzers... smart, sensitive breed! #ad

Mom wants to rescue a Basset Hound, I'm not sure. . wet mouth and mine live in the house, we'll see.

I'm glad you did good by those pups!

I'd vote that the dark one is an Aussie/Lab. My dog has exactly the same coloration but she's a lot finer boned. She's an Aussie/Coyote cross. Hell on 4 legs until she got to be about 6 years old. That color pattern seems to come through in crosses. The color on yours could be from a Catahoula. They may more common in your neck of the woods than Aussies, which are thicker than fleas in Nevada.

Well, the retiree decided he didn't need any more dogs. But, we found a home for the Blackmouth Cur last night. One left, keep your fingers crossed for us.

BTW: I printed a copy of "A Dog's Prayer" from this forum, and gave it to the new owner. Hopefully, it will influence him to treat the pup as we would!
