who made this engine?

I got to thinking today(sometime my mind wanders aimlessly) about a truck that belonged to a guy I worked with in the early 1980's. It was a blue 4WD dodge. It had a factory diesel engine. I think it was a 4cyl. He put an amazing amount of miles on it and got super mpg's. Who made it. Does anybody remember this or did my mind wander off track? Sam Stokes

are we talking about dodge D-50????or ram-50

those are made by mitsubishi,some hade a 4 cyl turbodiesel

I believe the late 70's model Power Wagons had a diesel option. It was a Mitsubishi 243cid, a whopping 107 horsepower. I read a very little about it in Four Wheeler. These must be very rare trucks, I've never seen one before.
