39,000 miles, two years old and I need to replace my evaporator.

I have searched the archives but have not found anything about an improved Evaporator.

I only want to do this once and would rather not use the OEM POS again.

One post by "BIGRAMGUY" mentioned the use of a different part, will PM him.

Thanks,

LB

I got my evap from a parts distributor called Foreign Autopart, they are located all around New England. I'm not sure who they buy from, but you may be able to call and ask them. 603. 883. 0099

The one I used may be slightly improved. I think that the bottom of it not being the same as the factory may help it last a bit longer since mine was leaking in the bottom.

I think the factory evaparator would last a very long time if it was kept clean, hopefully the filter I instaleld will help out. There is a styrafoam piece that I didn't put in when I put everything back together, it seemed to help collect debris. It seems to make sure more ariflow is diverted through the evaparator for beeter A/C cooling, without it, I think that leaves etc would be able to get by better and not clog things up.

Make sure you also replace the accumulator while you are at it.

Make sure you get a filter of some kind for longer evaparator life.

Dc has had many many failures on evaporators,Might want to call Dc customer help and see about assistance on such a low mileage truck. Just a thought!I've seen several a day for the entire summer replaced both warranty and customer pay.

I've got the same problem in my truck. Changed out the A/C compressor and the rest of the mess at 75k. The bushing in the Clutch on the Compressor came apart. Thought that did it. 3 months after change out, I'm out of 134. Leak test after using

florescent die, with a black light shows it to be the evaporator.

I also had a leak at the connection at the fire wall. I've checked around and can't find anything but DC parts so far. My sons truck is a 96 CTD with 201k on it. It has never had a problem with the A/C system. I'm going to check and see if the 96 materials are the same as the 2000 evap materials. When I tare mine down, I am

going to enlarge the water drain from the box if possible.

If I find something out, will let you know. My truck has 85k on it.

Thanks guys!

I remember reading in some thread about a "copper core" evaporator, but I cant find it now. I thought it was associated with a member "BigRamGuy". I have e-mailed him, but no response yet. I will keep looking also.
