I am looking to upgrade to a 5" exhaust on my pickup. Who makes a good quality full exhaust system with muffler? I have looked a few sites, but would like some help choosing the best system. Thanks in advance for your replies.

GEEEEEEZZZZZ i just looked at the price and cannot believe it. I purchased my exhaust about 3 months ago from big exhaust and i believe it was around $300 at the most. I love the system and would probably buy it for that price anyways. Sounds great and was easy to put on.

Rip make a great system. ANd is a great guy to work with!!! I haven't heard it yet but it is what my beast will have on when it's back together...

SECOND THIRD OR WHATEVER

vote for Rip I am very happy with the 5" exaust I got from Rip and have nothing but good things to say about him well maybe 1 bad thing, he's so darn busy sometimes you get his message machine lol. If you leave a message though I'd bet you'll get a speedy response. Jeff

I noticed that last week. Glad I got when it was still the "introductory" price. Got the TDR discount when that was still available too. Got it for something like $325 including shipping. :)

anyone here have piers 5" exhaust? they say it is made by x-bandit but i have never heard of them nor can i find any info on the net about that company... [just curious. they have it for about $100 off in their monthly special section for the 3rd gen's]

Thanks for the replies guys. It sounds like I'll have to give Rip a call pretty soon. It seems as if everyone has good things to say about him, so he'll be the one to get my business. Once again thanks for your helpful advice.

This is for your truck or your Dad's truck?

Don Truax from Twin Cities area is working on 5" systems. He sells through ebay and at diesel get togethers. I looked at the 4" and it was nice quality and would have picked one up if I didn't already have one from local muffler shop.

Actually it is called expandit Corp. They make it for big exhaust.com. I love mine. Running wide open:D.

Do any of them have a 5" downpipe? That is the difficult pipe to make (at least it was on my 97). Of course, Sickly also has a 5" outlet on the turbo, so he "deserves" full 5" exhaust :D

The exhaust is for my pickup, I would kind of like to go with a 5" system with a muffler so all I have to change is the downpipe when the twins go on.

thanks. . how do you find the sound and the fit/clearence of the system? i will probably end up running straight pipe for a little while [i like loud :D:D:D]

and i know my 315/70/17 spare will be put in the box...

FWIW - There are some rumblings that on a single charger truck with 450HP or less the 5" actually decreases HP over the 4"

There is no sense in building 5" to the stock turbo with plans to bolt a twin kit on later.

The outlet from the big turbo will be in a different place, so you will have to cut your expensive downpipe.

The dyno boys have insisted on a mildly BOMBed engine, 3" to about the transmission, then 4" back is the most efficient.

Jerry Jardine insists bigger is better.

I ran a twin kit through a 4" with muffler, then went to 5" straight pipe last year.

I lke the 5" straight pipe best. :D

Gene did the 5" perform better with your Twins or just sound better :)

Who are the dyno boys you are referring to ;)

Some 5" kits still come with a 4" downpipe so it could not easily be used with the Twins anyway. And the some of Twin kits come with a 5" downpipe so hacking at the original downpipe may not be a concern.

I'm planning on running an HX40 with a 4" downpipe to 5" from the end of the downpipe back, also with the intention of going to a Twin setup sometime in the future. For now I plan on buying the 5" kit w/o the downpipe.
