Who makes a good battery

So my batteries are getting a little slow in the morning. What are you guys using for replacements? I have used Optimas in the past, but honestly they don't hold up as well as I would like in the severe cold; maybe 1 or 2 winters before I have to replace them. Is there anything better out there?

I do not have them in my Dodge but I put one in another car I had, it was the Walmart brand, the battery was yellow, if I recall it had a 5 year non declining warrantee on it. When my factory batteries get low that is what I plan to replace mine with.

Someone told me a while back that those Wal-Mart "yellow" batteries were made by Optima. Not sure if it's true, maybe just a rumor.

optima reds have three year warranty and yellow has one year warranty. .



Optima are the only batts I will run they are the best out there and they cost alot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I went through 3 Optimas Blue Tops this Summer alone in my '06 Seadoo Speedster before finally giving up. They were all replaced for free, and the dealer (Seadoo) checked everything for shorts and couldn't find anything. I unded up going with an Interstate, used it twice since I installed it and haven't had any problems. Of course it's out for the Winter now, but it didn't give me much faith in Optima.



I installed a Red Top in my Jeep in Spring of '05 and have had to replace it twice now (agian for free), but I'm tired of having to replace these things. I'm not abusing them, just normal service.

I had two Optima red tops go bad right before the warranty was up. So now I double check them every time the warranty is getting near on any of my batteries!

The yellow Walmart batteries (MAXX) are made by Johnson Controls. I've had good luck with them in the past in my 97. Lasted 4 or 5 years and they were still strong when I sold the truck.

Yes, I buy batteries made by Johnson Controls. I've had good service with them and no acid leak/corrosion problems. If you go to the Johnson Controls web site, they list who uses their private label batteries... Walmart is one.

I'll ditto the Interstate. That's the only battery we put in tractors. Haven't had to replace the batteries in my truck(s) yet but when I do it will be with Interstates.



I don't trust Walmart warranties as the products sometimes have a habit of disappearing and the warranty with it.

My original batteries still going strong (this is probably the kiss of death... . ), but when I do replace them it will be a pair of Odessey Batteries. I put an Odessy in by Buell S-1 in 1999 and it's still going strong. Including two winters in Montana! I'm keeping this truck for a while and those should be the last batteries I ever have to buy.

Optima is made by Interstate, you really do have bad luck with them though. I have had the Optima in my 2000 model for 6 years. I have optimas in my sand rail and mudrag truck also. They have lasted about 2 years now and the muddrag truck dosent even have an alternator. We just charge it before a race and go. If I had trouble like that I wouldnt like them either. :-laf But mine have worked great.

My truck had interstates in it for the past 100k with no problems at all. It starts in the winter & cranks fast. I'll be replacing them with the same battery.

I like the napa auto parts brand (can't remember) of Gel batteries. I use two in my Malibu boat (deep cycle) and one red top in my wife's highlander. Will prob get the same brand of gel for the Diesel when it needs replacements.

I second the NAPA.

We use their lead acid batteries at work and have good luck with them.

I have to say Deka batteries are the best batteries I have used.

I work for a marine dealer and in 19 years there we have sold Interstates, GNB, And deka batteries with Interstates being the worst by far.
