who makes a great single turbo?

I want to make about 550 rwhp on diesel only and have stock-like turbo lag or quicker, 200 degrees less egts at the same horsepower level as stock, better fuel economy than stock with the tripledog turned down, hook up to my costly Banks 4" exhaust with no butchering. I use the truck as a daily driver but want more fun and less egts. I would love twins but they are psycho-expensive. ANy used ones for sale? I want to be able to tow on occasion 5,000 lbs, go on long trips, blow away mustangs light to light, AND HOLD MY OWN AT THE STRIP! I have considered a super b special, silver 62 or 64, or an ats unit, also an HTB2. Which will do me right? who has the best price?

Boy, youre asking a lot of a turbo. You can probably get most of your request with like a BD super single, II SPS 62, HTT 62-13 or 14, ATS 2000 etc. the list could go on for a long time. Call one of the manufacturers you trust and ask them, they will set you up with best suits your needs.

A SPS62 or a Silver62 will both spool pretty darn quick if you give them enough air and fuel, I've had both.



They will not spool as soon as the stocker, but once they light at about 1350/1400 rpm... ,about half way across an intersection is my experience with their lag.



I am not real pleased with the behavior while towing either, at least on my truck. To keep my egt's in check when pulling a grade, I have to keep giving it fuel, to keep the boost up, and then I'm topping hills at 90mph.



II tells me I can cure this with other than stock injectors, running my current mods. I have already upgraded my intake from an AFE stage 1, and I replaced my 03 cast elbow with an 05 cast elbow. These two mods have made a noticeable difference, I can cruise on the interstate now at 70mph, empty, light throttle, with 5lbs boost, before the mods, zero boost.

I have not towed since the upgrades.
