I will check when I get home what the date is. It both talks about all deesign aspects of the G56 and does quite a few comparisons to the NVG5600. The G56 really is a great transmission. It soea state, by two different authors that the dual mass flywheel is great if you leave your truck completely stock. If you do even mild mods to your truck, the DMF is taxed.

Thanx.

G-56 shift pattern.

Maybe, but all I know is that in 1. 5 months of ownership, it's happened to me on 5 occassions now, where I've just about lurched into the curb instead of going backwards.

In 7 years of ownership of my 5 speed, not a single occurence. I may have missed it for 4th, but I'm not going anywhere in 4th from a standstill.

My wife just about drove through the garage wall making the same mistake on my 07.

Shifting into reverse takes a heck of a effort on my G-56. It's placed in a logical position as far as I'm concerned. I don't see how you could mistake it for 2nd.

Had mine since Oct 23d. Only remember hitting reverse by accident once or twice, and that was from not paying attention. The reverse detent is exceptionally strong on mine.

Which 6 speed transmission is better, the big CI bullet proof NV5600 or the smaller aluminum G56. My 05 was the CI bullet proof.

I think this has yet to be 100% determined... knowing what I know now, I probably would have went to the G56 just because they are still supported... the NV5600 can be a big box of used parts if some of the internals fail as there doesn't seem to be much aftermarket support.
